View Full Version : Have people lost the meaning of Christmas?

Christ was born.
Rather than it being an excuse to spend lots of money and get drunk?
Do you think of others at Christmas?
It's a happy time for a lot of people but a sad time for equally as many.
As children it doesn't cross your mind but as adults it might.
I suppose I think about it more as I'm faced with the reality when I go into people's homes that don't have that one thing that matters the most, their health.
It's human nature for us to be selfish. Everyone is to a certain extent and unless faced with the harsher side of life will always be that way.
Marcus.

We can spend everyday thinking of the misfortune of others, Christimas time if to have a laugh with your friends and family.

Exactly. Xmas is pretty much the only time of year you can forget about misery and enjoy yourself for once.
We can spend everyday thinking of the misfortune of others, Christimas time if to have a laugh with your friends and family.
..well said Jords...
Christmas has always meant the same thing to me and has never had any religious connotations in my household so I haven't lost track of it's meaning

Happiness is Christmas for me. Whatever makes someone happy around this time is what makes it magic.

Christmas is a pagan festival, so I guess Christians are the biggest culprits for forgetting the original meaning.
Just throwing it out there.
