View Full Version : People who don't like Pete

Is it because the majority of Big Brother viewers do like him? Or do you truly not consider him a likeable person? I ask this purely out of interest because he's obviously a very popular housemate, not only with the viewing public but the other housemates as well. If you don't like him simply because you think he's 'boring', then which of the housemates do you like for entertainment value?

I like Pete, I just dont think he should win because he always sits on the fence and never has an opinion in case he offends someone

You could be right but I don't see it that way. Maybe I'm biased because he's my favourite HM but the way I see it is that he just doesn't like confrontation.

Thats true, I just think he needs to grow a backbone though

I don't like pete for reasons that i've mentioned so many times you'd have to go into standard form.

But that isn't one of my reasons for disliking him, it's one of my reasons for disliking people, and it also annoyed me because everytime i saw him i knew millions of people were going "AWWW ISN'T HE SWEET, PETE TO WIN!" or "I LOVE HIM SO MUCH HE MAKES ME LAUGH, PETE IS GOD!" that just made me angry with england.

I like Pete and also agree that he doesn't deserve to win, IMO. But Pete over Gyln anyday!

But why does everyone accept that? No-one accepted Grace's bitching. No-one accepted Aisleyne's laugh. No-one accepted lea's clinginess. No-one accepted Lisa's swearing. And no-one accepted Jayne's beltiching. Everyone gives him 'special treatment'

That's what annoys me. Everyone acting like he's god.

Pete is funny though. His bits in the diary room are always hilarious, as are Glyns. I loved it when they did nominations and he tried to nominate someone called "Dave" and get away with it.
Big Brother: "Pete, there is no housemate called Dave".
Pete: "Oh." *mischevious look*

I just don't get his sense of humour. It's just all that.. short-guy making-himself look like idiot crap.

I really like him, but I don't want him to win, it's too expected..

For me it's not about liking Pete because he is a nice lad but in my opinion he doesn't deserve to win BB when Glyn has clearly been much more entertaining over a longer period, Pete was only entertainment for the first few weeks.

I don't dislike Pete, I just don't think he's doing enough to win.He also leads girls on and is too afraid to say he likes or doesn't like them in that way.

Yeah, I can't really justify the fact that he's lead girls on and snogged Aisleyne in full view of Nikki, knowing how smitten Nikki was with him. Not a nice situation for her to have been in.

But there must be a reason why he is so popular and to suggest that it's to do with the fact that he has Tourettes, IMO, indicates that a small number of the British public simply feel a need to be different. Of course, if you are part of that small number, you will disagree completely but I know for a fact that I don't like him or feel sorry for him because he has Tourettes.

I know it's a thread for people who don't like Pete, but I just have to point out why I do, and why I respect people who don't.

I watch the show to see people I actually like and would like in real life. I get the entertainment bit, but that's not enough for me, a good winner for me has to be both entertaining and a good person all around. Glyn is great, but only my second choice, because I think he has a lot of growing up to do still (and the rat thing still bugs me, sorry).

I have to respect Edwin for being honest about his reasons for not liking Pete, though. I know how annoying it is when everyone seems to be thinking the same way about something, it kind of takes the fun out. It's like how I could never get into some bands, even if I might have liked them, because I thought all the other people that liked them were idiots.

When it comes to BB, though, maybe I'm insulated from the "everyone loves Pete" thing cause I'm in New York, but I'm sticking with Pete to win.

I might be backing Pete wholeheatedly if he wasn't such a dead cert to win! I think it's more fun backing an outsider. Plus I don't think that he can do wrong in some peoples eyes which is obviously a bit unfair. Or maybe I haven't really found him the most entertaining housemate? Although I think he might be back to his old self now.

I don't particularly like Pete. I want to switch off the tv when he's on. When he's in the diary room saying things like 'I'm not interested in material things like beer and cakes' or critisizing laddish behaviour of Mikey and Spiral it gives me the impression that he is trying to come across as if butter wouldn't melt in his mouth. I don't find him funny anymore - his antics in the diary room are the same over and over again. Much prefer to watch people who voice their opinions and aren't afraid of their faults being seen as well as their good ponts.

I am a fan of Pete, but I 99% agree with Edwins point. Everyone panders to him sooo much. I find him an entertaining housemate, but I really don't understand why everyone thinks he's like a new gimmick :puzzled:

Completely agree with this, I'm the same

Pete doesn't like confrontation so I think that is why he sits on the fence alot as he would get all muddled and it would kick off his torretts.

Most people don't like confrontation but sitting back not voicing his opinions on things and people then that makes me dislike him more because he has went through 10 weeks of the show without giving opinions and just sitting on the fence all the time and i wouldn't want a winner to be like that, a lot of people don't like confrontation but not voicing an opinion because he doesn't want to 'get into an argument or a disagreement' i think is pathetic. If thats how he is outside this house then i'd love to know how he gets by in life by running away from the tiniest bit of 'confrontation'.

Obviously it's not a particullary nice thing conforntation but giving an opinion aint exactly starting world war 3.

I just think Pete needs to grow a backbone which is why i'm not a fan however entertaining he is.

I understand Legends point - a lot of someone's personality is based on their opinions/whether they have any.
But I also agree with GE - I know we don't like to pander to his tourettes but any siding/arguments/stress of any kind can really trigger a disorder, maybe he finds it easier to deal with to just be care-free and not side?

Legend
28-07-2006, 01:52 AM
Yeah thats true but even if he just gave his opinion on things now and again even if it meant disagreeing with someone over a small thing.
I couldn't see Pete in a big argument as he's not the kind of person and i agree to an extent about triggering his torettes so it could be best but i doubt expressing his opinion could really trigger off his torettes.

I'm not saying i want him to go and start an argument and i'll be his fan  but i'd just like to see him express his opinions a bit more because unless it's Pete acting daft then we never 'hear Pete' if you get me?

Lauren
28-07-2006, 02:02 AM
Yeah I know what you mean. Opinions make up a HUGE part of someones personality. He just needs some way to express his opinions without it being blown out of proportion by the other HM's - cos you know as much as I do that anything can turn into an argment in the BB house

Legend

I think if Pete was too express an opinion though then the other housemates wouldn't be bothered because afterall it is 'PETE' but yeah i can see were your coming from but i'd just like to see him with a backbone.

I think he is ok, but it is so obvious he was put in there as a winner. It is not his fault, but I could never warm to him, as it was pre-ordained he would win from the start, which makes the show dull.

i think out of all he deserves the most to win but i think glyn can and will give him a run for his money.
