Karl, by silly I assume you mean an alternative view to your own.
You are obviously one of the many creatures on this earth who have been colonised by the massive, all-powerful United States entertainment industry. Not to mention, of course, their equally dominant financial, industrial and military machines.
We (the British) should really be more aware than most of what they are doing since we spent over one hundred years doing much the same to a large part of the world.
