when i was a baba my old man woul take me down to swansea to watch them play against liverpool and man utd
they actually went straight from div 4 to the top of div 1 in 4 straight years
then they got relegated and went bankrupt
now years later having moved from the old tinpot ground the vetch field, they have reappeared in a shiny new stadium and suddenly risen to 8th in the premiership and tonight theyre nearly at wembley too
its a very romantc tale:wavey:
they have no money, they only have 20,000 capacty ground, michu cost only 2 million quid, ther whole squad is worth less than rooney and the city is in a massive recesseion
how the heck did they do it?

Basically this, they owe alot to Bobby Martinez, more so than Rodgers, who gets all of the credit

Without Martinez, they probably don't appoint Rodgers, and the chairman deserves credit for finding managers who share his vision, but Martinez didn't get them into the top league.
Lots of managers have taken over clubs on the up, and quickly halted their progress.

Rogers is very lucky in my opinion. He was apointed manager of swansea simply because he was a yes man. He agreed to everything martinez said and didnt stop saying yes ever. He was very lucky to get swansea to their position in the prem. Most of that was down to the group of players he inherited ( he bought 2 or 3 but they were bit part acts ) . He is now at lfc whrre he is doing a poor job with a team who although not the greatest afe massively under acheiving , the squad lfc have they should be top 6 easy. They have 3 of the best players in their respected positions in the world
Suarez
Gerrard
Reina
The spine of most squads and he also has a fantastic set of youth players coming through and will do his best in getting them into the first team , but these players are all the old managerial teams work . Benetez did wonders for em. And rogers will reep the benefits.
He is a very lucky manager.
