View Full Version : FM's dispute thread.

I'm sure something like this has been thought of and discarded (for good reasons) before, but why don't we have a thread where FM's can come to argue?
It's still moderated (obviously), but people are allowed to actually flush out gripes with other people? It could of course, just keep arguments dragged out longer than they would be and affect the rest of the forum, regardless.
This is a voluntary thread, and if you don't add yourself to the list of people willing to use it, then no one can mention your name or moan about it.
That way, it frees other threads up from being hijacked and gives us the chance to try and find conclusions to arguments that are stopped due to thread closures and infractions. No one is allowed to insult anyone else, but it may actually restore balance to the force.
What say you?

Isn't that called PMs?
I'm sure if you wanted this sort of voyeur/spectator thrills on the internet you could find better elsewhere JHC.

There are only so many times I can watch your mother on webcam before it gets boring. Thanks for your interest though.
Arguments often happen between multiple people, and across multiple threads. That's what I'm trying to find a workaround for.

Sounds like a neural networking problem - I'll get our IT conceptualists on your 'risk/continuity' suggestion.
Thanks for the inane 14 year old opening line tho - pure class by ra way

I think it is a bloody good idea!
It would solved being indirectly insulted in open forum with ni right to reply, as I was today!!

Don't bring internet voyeurism to a thread if you're not prepared to use it.

I try to keep it short n sweet on here as the wolves circle anytime I'm unbanned!
Best of luck with yer suggestion

Really Kizz? I think it would have invited more back-biting. Insults on an open forum should be dealt with - I can think of 2 users who used to get away regularly with insulting Kerry before she became a Mod. then sadly passed away - they are 2 of the TiBB luvvies.
Kerry got a 24 hour ban for answering back to them - whacky in the anels of TiBB history!

People constantly swipe insults at people & then they don't get infracted, the person who answers back does.
But the TiBB infraction system is all dependent on your status on the forum, If you're liked by the mod they won't bother infracting you.

How do you know what infractions other fm's get, when no one else does?

Best to just state your opinion and not rise to the baiting.

Claymores I think you have been banned for most of the time I've been on here, but just reading this thread I love you already :amazed:
Do we really need a thread where people can argue their heads off, personally I don't think so. So how would it work....someone says something annoying in a thread, and then that annoying comment is taken to the argument thread to be discussed at length?
I dunno mannnnn. It kind of takes the charm and spontaneity away from arguments in other threads. It's the childrens matinee of the Roman coliseum.
The idea sucks, basically.

In some respects it's a good idea to stop threads being derailed by bickering but it would be a nightmare for the mods and everyone would just follow the argument into the dispute thread?

When I was a regular here I could pretty much work it out. Kerry got 14 insults over 2 pages = 3 points each to the 2 luvvies. Kerry answered and she told me on email how many points she got and 24 hour ban!

Why do people NEED to argue? I'd suggest not taking the forum so seriously.

You're talking about an incident that happened at least a couple of years ago, now. No fm's would be given the grace to lay insult after insult at someone over a few pages, without any consequences.
I've had more than my fair share of run-ins with the mods on here, but when I take a step back for a second, then I have been at least equally to blame.
You know what it was like back then, and I don't, so I could never say you were wrong, but it's not really like that from what I've seen.

I get really annoyed when I feel personally insulted, only to find the thread closed and there is no possibility of having your say on the subject.
Reporting is all very well but as said how effective is that?

I don't have a problem with anybody I love everybody :pipe:
Apart from the constant mollycoddling of one particular member from some people like he's a 5 year old child.

Yeah see that's retarded.
Sometimes I'd like to say something back but then I remind myself this is the INTERNET.

I don't want to cause a new argument and for it to all kick off again, I was just sticking my 2 pennies in, to me it comes across as mollycoddling, but just my opinion and how I feel. I understand they are going to support their friend, I'd do the same thing. But anyway. :joker:

Forever in your thoughts.
Any "argument" would soon turn into trading insults ..... some FMs just prefer getting personal when they're on the losing end of a debate ..... :bored:

I always think if people haven't got any ammo they can't insult you, they end up clutching at straws with borderline laughable attempts. That's why I avoid all these '10 things about me' type threads. I just take a back seat these days and watch the madness.

I don't really know how it would work. I just thought it might be something that could work. Maybe.
I've seen times when people (myself included) have had to leave things due to hijacking/closure of threads/off topic/infractions etc., which doesn't really offer any resolution to the people involved.
It's probably a **** idea on reflection, as has been pointed out.
Arguments would still be dragged across the forum, and when things can get personal (as happens) then another thread might just feed into it, rather than people stepping back and calming down.

It would be nice to have a place to vent my rage about those I can't stand on here, but the arguments that wind up being confined to one thread will probably just become a very long and drawn out series of insults after a short period of time and I don't know if I'll have the stamina to deal with that.
I still think bringing Controversy/Most Hated would be a better idea. It's sort of a similar concept to this but just biannually, and it's only there for a little while. After it's finished, well it's finished isn't it?
Why do people NEED to argue? I'd suggest not taking the forum so seriously.
This.
There's enough drama on here already without a thread encouraging it also there's only 2 pages and a couple of members posting so far and already we are receiving reports from this thread so I'm closing it.
