A Belgian woman accidentally drove to Croatia after relying too heavily on her GPS system.

The woman, 67-year-old Sabine Moureau, wanted to drive to Brussels but ended up in Zagreb, Croatia, reports flandersnews.be.

She ended up 1,450km from her home without realising that the journey, which should have taken her an hour, had gone wrong.

Moureau said: "I was absent-minded so I kept putting my foot down.

"I switched on the GPS and punched in the address. Then I started out. My GPS seemed a bit wonky. It sent me on diversions and that's where it must have gone wrong."

The woman had to fill up her car twice and stopped to sleep for a few hours.

She claimed she did not realise she was heading in the wrong direction.

Would never happen a man tbh :idc:

I know someone who went home on leave to St Ives, Cambridgeshire, got on the coach, fell asleep and ended up in St Ives, Cornwall. Doofus.

-trying to work out if you'd be able to pass EU country borders without a passport-

going through germany, then austria, then italy should work... and they're all EU... I'm just not sure if this is a myth I've been told or not

You two... veeeery cheeky.

I challenge you both to a parallel parking and map reading competition. Bring your own motors though, you're not driving mine...

Surely she would've seen a sign or something? Or at least noticed the language changing abruptly?

Surely going through the borders would have given her a clue.

I thought that too but isn't Croatia part of the EU? I swear EU members don't have conventional borders? You can just pass on through without stopping? :suspect:

Not sure what it's like there, but we drove through France and into Spain once, not everyone gets stopped and checked but there was a border with border police there

Hm. I remember reading about it somewhere (Wikipedia I think), and it was about EU border agreement and the German/Austrian border was represented by nothing more than a sign. :suspect:

But there are still borders. If someone wasn't braindead, it would be obvious they were at a border. If this story is true the woman needs her licence taking off her and from now on she should travel on a bus with an escort.

Exactly! The colour of the country is different, surely they'd realise the different coloured ground!

It's not really been mentioned, but she was only trying to reverse park.
