Does anyone remember that whole Mosher/Townie thing in about 1999/2000? I dunno if it was just up North though, I remember once trying to explain to a Scottish girl what a Mosher was and she had no clue what I was on about.

Townie wasn't a chav or anything, chavs weren't invented then. It was more the trendy types.

I was your generic metal mosher from about 12-14. Always wore HIM tops and had that reverse prejudice where all goths were 'the good guys' and everyone else was a bit of a wanker.

I kind of went from that to going through an indie phase to getting binned and getting into electronic music [all the black clothes were thrown out the next day] to getting into the 80's and all my dads bands.

Now I kind of appreciate everything [although I haven't come full circle with some bands. I just can't bring myself to rekindle that Papa Roach passion that used to burn in me].

I get called a goth and a hippie at the same time. It's really odd.

Yeah I pretty much ditched the Mosher thing and became mad on Indie in about 2005. It was only in like 2008 I rediscovered that I loved bands like SOAD and Slipknot. But like you say, some bands are better left in the past.

I liked heavy rock/metal at school but I got on with the 'chavs' as well, I got on with everyone tbh, but the moshers/chavs always use to get on at our school partly down to the fact that they both smoked weed

Trendy I guess, our friend group would either go shopping every Saturday or go to a small beach and get pissed... but we were far too educated, and wore far too much Animal or River Island, to be chavs.

I had a very brief 'emo' phase in 2006, which consisted of being recommended loads of Tool, Placebo, A Perfect Circle and Alice in Chains, and buying a lot of grey clothes and wearing black leather wristbands. Didn't get as far as eyeliner, cutting or misanthropy (well the latter I've acquired a lovely dose of now).
