I think less people will play now. People, who say spend a tenner on there, will still spend the same amount I would have thought. They will just put on 5 lines instead of 10. It will be people who put a pound on here and there they will lose out to.

well £25 is more of a prize than £10 I guess... I never play it though.

Aw.. there's me thinking they wanted to raise more money for 'good causes'... no just screwing people for another quid!

I am a bit surprised they have been allowed to, when the contract for them to run this was renewed,we heard nothing as to any increase in the basic cost per line being possible for the standard lottery draw.

While I accept and agree with making the prize for 3 numbers £25 instead of £10, that could still have been done and as for increasing the top prize to something like £5,000,00 instead of around £4,000,000,that to me is ridiculous.
Winning between 2 and 4 million is enough for anybody, this just has a bad smell to it.

I do a lucky dip on a wednesday and a saturday, one only. If I am ever going to win I will win with that. So when this comes in they will get £2 more from me each week.

£25 for 3 numbers is much better, it's always irked me that it's quite paltry. I don't really play lotto, prefer the euro but if more money is raised for good causes, it can't be a bad thing. Think people will just buy less tickets though so the revenue will not alter much IMO.

I once heard the lottery described as a tax on the hopelessly optimistic. I see people I know to be on benefits, queueing up in the supermarket to buy their cigarettes, put a couple of quid on their power key and buy their lottery tickets and a couple of scratch cards. People become slaves to and will find the extra money it even when they clearly can't afford it.

It does indeed arista.

They would likely get more doing it if they further increased the other numbers prizes, however I believe the 5 numbers and 5 numbers plus the bonus ball prize is actually going to be decreased.
