I'd never recommend travelling alone.

I don't know whether to go on those guided tours that take you to all the historical places because then it's safe.. idk :L

Yes I went to New York to work for a year,I went alone,I was really apprehensive at first and obviously missed my family ,but I lived with a lovely family and in no time I intergrated met many friends, now I have family over there, and it's like my second home.I hope you have a great time and enjoy it and be careful,I'm sure you will love it.:hugesmile:It was a few years ago now,but it was one of the best years of my life.:xyxwave:
Couple of my friends have travelled alone before and had good experiences, soon threw themselves into the whole thing and got to know people on the way, meant they were never held back or hindered by anyone else at least as well

I've travelled alone a few times, but I have family in Holland and a close friend in Morocco so I dunno if it counts.

You could do one of those planned gap year things where you go with a group of people, that way you could meet with them before/meet some really cool friends which will give you experience in having to deal with new people going into Uni
I haven't done it, but a couple of my friends have and really liked it

I went working in the States for a year which was so daunting but best thing I ever did too. The worst bit for me was leaving my parents and friends at the airport, I was in bits but once I got through security I pulled myself together and decided it was up to me now. Turned out to be an amazing year and one I'll never forget.
I have a friend though who did the whole oz travelling thing on her own with just a back pack and enough money to last a couple of weeks, now that was brave. She got a job, found a place to stay and had a fantastic time.

I was in Uganda alone for a few months this year. I weren't really travelling though, was staying in the same town 80% of the time, but you meet people and grow to love them quickly. Highly recommend doing this, you can't do it when you're old and ugly and have a career and ****

I just wouldn't recommend a young girl travelling on her own. Anything can happen

Seriously though be safe and all that but you gotta get out and see the world. Chances are you're not going to be kidnapped and sold into slavery.
Personally I'd say go for it. It depends on how much you're willing to throw yourself into it though. Admittedly I've always traveled with friends but the idea of an unknown odyssey meeting new people and having a laugh with them sounds appealing to me.
..yeah, I agree with Stu..be careful in everything you do but live your life...

I'm your man. All my travel has been done solo. You meet some cool people along the way. As some have said, being a girl be careful, but many females I've met are travelling solo. If you need advice on how to start off, where to go or tours then I'm also your man for that. Throw me a PM sometime.
