I think it's a description of many celebrities that is used too lightly,however when she was Kathy Beale in Eastenders, apparantly she was extremly popular so maybe for a time she was well loved by viewers of Eastenders.

I quite like her though and although she did little dramatic in the house, I feel she didn't warrant being voted out on Friday.

she's far more successful than 99% of people
but national treasures are more successful than 99.999999% of people
Terry Wogan, Michael Parkinson, Maggie Smith, Michael Caine are what most people think of as national treasures
