Posting a story about a soldier killing is like publishing a story about a Baker baking a loaf of Bread.

Did he kill Taliban or what is more likely is that he killed Afghans going about their daily business. Rather difficult to really know from 2,000 ft in the air.

Not something I'd want to really mention....!!!!

What is "more likely"? That is a ridiculous statement which shows you don't know very much about the British Army in Afghanistan. Do you think British servicemen want to kill ordinary Afghan people? Despite the fact that their own people are frequently killed or injured by the Taliban, the British Army act with remarkable restraint.

First of all its not a "ridiculous" statement the British and US armies routinely kill innocent Afghans, there are many many instances of collateral damage resulting in the deaths of people going about their business.

And NO I do not think British servicemen WANT to kill anybody, given the type of warfare they are engaging in innocents do pay the price for their "freedoms"

And I probably know as much as you do about the British Army in Afghanistan unless of course you split your time between being a special adviser to the Armed services and full time TiBB poster.....!!!!

Why is this a news story? He's in the army, of course he's going to kill. And damn right he should. It seems like this is a pathetic attempt to get people to dislike him.

This is such an non story, only because of his status is this made into a national story. It is a part of his job as a soldier.

is it really that sensible for harry to be showing off about killing taliban soldiers? I just see zero benefit in him mentioning it. surely hes making himself and his regiment a bigger target and stoking up our enemies

Was he showing off?

I think he was just stating things in an easy to understand way, not only to the GBP but knowing the way the media works, to the rest of the world.

Whether he serves back in theatre is open to debate, he has now left it, for how long depends whether he stays in the same unit.

He was a very high priority target, his unit is and always will be. Apache helicopter gunships are expensive but they are also highly accurate long range killing machines, the gunships will be always be high priority targets to the Taliban as long as they operate out there.

Dont think that the "chat" he had wasn't scripted, rehearsed, edited and fully scrutinised not only by the program makers, but also by Buck House, the MOD and the government.

Even if this wasnt the original idea behind it, it has now projected the fact that he was the highest earning target for the Taliban to take out, he has now been up against them two times, they have totally failed, its a kick in the pants for them.

The Afghan mindset is different to the UK mindset and this interview will be seen as a big open insult to the Taliban, it totally undermines them in the eyes of the Afghani. Kudos for Harry and ISAF, big big loss of face for the Taliban.

Really?

I think that is called desertion.

It also shows how little you actually know of the situation out there.

anyone with a modicum of intelligence knows that hyping up a particular regiment and particularly individual soldiers in effect showing off their kills is counter productive. hes now got a behind the scenes documentary which no doubt none of the foot soldiers have been asked whether theyre prepared to be filmed in the heat of battle fighting for their lives....its crass its tasteless its dangerous... I would demand to be moved to a different regiment or be charged with desertion , so be it. Im a man of principle and this self publicity by the monarchy will cost lives
