View Full Version : Ryan Toadie had a point tonight
Thought he was being a bit of a dick about it at first but you could see why he was annoyed about it; they all sacrificed their letters for Claire so she wouldn't feel left out and to show a bit of solidarity, but now when the shoe is on the other foot and Claire has her letter it's suddenly ok for only some of them to have them read and for the rest to miss out?
For a guy who is married and with kids I think, it must be pretty frustrating to have held your letter in your hands, given it up for somebody else, and then not had that same favour repaid to you. Ok so they sort of checked the others were alright with it but the way they did it Ryan wasn't really left with much of a choice but to accept it

They all forfeited their letters for Claire. Now Ryan doesn't get his and they all happily read their letters in front of him.
That also proves that yesterdays "we don't want our letters" stunt by the other HMs was just a way of trying to stick it to Speidi.

Claire told them to take their letters yesterday though.
Claire actually sat back down after she heard them say letters, she was encouraged by the other housemates to get get the letters, especially Rylan.

has he just realized they dont like him much lol bit dim he is.
yea he has a point but he is far too serious far to competetive and slightly psychotic .
if he cared about his letter he would of read it that day instead of being a sheep to rylan to win votes now he has been pooed on he now feels a fool.
if i had kids i'd of read mine the other day not follow the sheep its more important.
its his own fault
He's been my favourite from the start, just a genuine guy who says what he feels and I don't know why other's think he should go tbh, he's been a team player and gave his all in every task right from the start, and he seems to be up for a laugh, I did agree with him about the letters too it wasn't fair that they all gave up theirs because Claire never got hers then had to sit and listen to the others being read out in front of them, it must have been difficult.

She didn't really try very hard to persuade them, not saying it's all Claire's fault, it was quite unfair of the others as well to seemingly value Claire's letter over his. In a way he probably wanted his letter the most, not only does he also have a wife and kids but he's on the other side of the world to them

Claire's been given a lot of flack (once more) for this, she sat back down after she found out that there were letters in the hatch, and was encouraged by the others to do it. It's not like she got up and ran to the hatch and stuck up her middle finger to Ryan's face.

Though I do agree with him, I don't know why he is surprised, he did after all sell Sam down the river in face to face noms when Sam thought they had bonded, and the majority voted for him even though he had unblocked the drains. They are all in it for themselves, and as someone else said last nights tight unit was purely to stick it to Spiedi.

I blame Rylan and Frankie over Claire to be honest, they discouraged and lead people into not taking their letters yesterday and then encouraged Claire, Tricia and razor to take them tonight.
I don't blame Ryan at all, I don't like him but I think that's got to be hard for him but I think the blame being placed more with Claire is a bit missplaced, not that I'm claiming you've said she is of course.

I too am in agreement with OP. Ryan seems like a straight-down-the-line type of guy, no airs or graces, and what you see is what you get. He is a team player, whilst also portraying principles that he sticks to. I do believe Ryan is (quite justifiably) missing his family in equal proportion to Claire or Trisha. I am a mum with kids, yet feel it is transparent in this scenario to detect that fathers must surely miss their kids too. Why wouldn't it be that way?
Claire and co were all too quick to accept their letters without a thought for the others, which in my opinion showed a lack of feeling and sensitivity, and moreover, I am perturbed to see that Tricia and Claire have fallen over themselves to befriend Speidi again. Where do their loyalties lie, and how weak are their principles?
Ryan is my favourite to win, but sadly, he'll probably be first out, because regrettably, as is often the case, the good guys with a sense of morality, decency, loyalty and those that are team-spirited and conscientious, tend not to be favoured by Big Brother voters.

You have selective hearing, They didn't wish anyone dead, they said, "if they were dead in the house, they wouldn't go to any of their funerals" doubt they would have been invited anyway.

I'm pretty sure he will have seen some BB eps before he went in, and will have done some research, he won't have gone in cold. Carrying it into the next day was OTT. I think he was more annoyed at the group making up with Spiedi than the actual letter thing. He quite likes it when they are ostracised, and he feels part of the group, he said it himself he has made a big effort to integrate, whereas Spiedi well we all know they haven't. Spencer made a very valid point on BOTS in the DR they all bar Spiedi said they were in it for the experience, that is part of the experience as well, taking the good with the bad.

I understand why he thought he should receive a letter as well, and Frankie's ridiculous generalisation that mothers are always closer to their children than fathers annoyed me a lot (hate ignorant stereotyped opinions like that).
However I still don't like Ryan. Away from this issue and in general there is a narrow self-importance to him and he certainly plays up to what he thinks the audience wants him to say.

I 100% agree it makes me sick to my stomach to see all fathers generalized against like that, its a massive problem in british society and causes enormous damage to fathers, children and families...frankie fell way down in my estimations he sounded like a right prat just desperate to say anything that made him look good on camera, instead he sounded fake and fickle....ryan said the right things and spoke from the heart.

Yep, Ryan had every right to feel upset. Why is it more important that the women get their letters from home?? Claire lives about 5 minutes away from Borehamwood, she will see her other half & kids as soon as she leaves the house. Ryan's wife & kids are thousands of miles away & he wont see them for about a week after BB ends! I have no doubt that if he survives tonights eviction BB will give him & the others their letters, but the principle he made was very right & I'm glad he stuck to his guns & told them how he felt...
Actually having just seen him on BOTS carrying it through to the next day and now crying in the bathroom, I think he is acting, playing on the sympathy vote. He's pulling out all the stops to win.:xyxwave:
He didn't carry it on to the next day. Yesterday, between the morning wake up and the time he had the conversation with Claire, BB called him into the DR on two separate occasions to make him rehash what it was like not to get his letter while the girls got theirs. That's BB carrying it on to the next day. Unlike speidi, he's not a robot who can just deactivate the emotion chip when it suits him, he's an actual human.
And TBF, I have absolutely zero doubt that the day of the initial letter task, BB was probably calling Claire into the DR every chance they had to make her talk about her kids so she'd be as emotional as possible by the time they announced the task.
It's BB's job to be cruel, and while they generally suck at it, when they do manage to pull it off, it's not really fair to blame their manipulations on the HM's, any more than it would be fair to blame the HM's when BB decides to turn off hot water when one person breaks a rule but take away nominating rights from another HM who breaks the same rule.
