View Full Version : Claire Incredibly Selfish?

What are peoples thoughts on this? She sat back and let everyone refuse their letters the other day because she wasn't getting hers (and you know if she'd been the only one not to get it, they would have got it to her in some other way) But when she gets offered hers on last nights show, she didn't even hesitate in taking it.
Ryan was clearly upset, he didn't say it at the time but you could tell it from his face, nobody seemed at all bothered by that though
Fgs they'll be out on Friday why can't they just wait.
Claire is an emotional wreck... she needs to get a grip

11000 miles from home ,all he has done is be generous and hand his letter back to support clare and trisha...and this is how they reward him? disgusting selfish people...Their character is 100% exposed... lets hope he gets his letter.

I am sure he will get his letter...It is selfish assuming that women miss their kids more then men and therefore have more of a right to hear from their kids.....

These people have been starved of the one thing they all need, camera time, so she saw an opertunity to grab some. I find her very opague and false and she acts like a fish out of water along side bigger personalities and she flounders occassionaly. The tears are a defence mechanism she uses too often for me and she is quite insignifficant to the shows ethos.

Agreed. Her tears are getting on my nerves. She's not the only parent in there.
She likes to be the victim i think, cannot stand to see anymore tears. If you miss them so much, do not go in there in the first place or just bloody leave!

Yes and she's not the only one in there using tears to get votes. It really annoys me. :nono:
..I have to say I didn't watch it, but it does sound incredibly selfish..if that was me I would say ok, I'm walking if you all refuse your letters....she does seem a very weepy person...

It was selfish. What they'd done for her the previous day was instantly forgotten, which is what upset Ryan more, from clips I've seen.

Firstly, i do think Ryan was right to be upset as his reasoning was more than understandable. But at the same time he should have just accepted the situation, been happy for the girls and just moved on.
The difference between the first time the letters were to be read and the one last night was the fact that the first time the whole letter reading task was ruined by an act of almost cruelty to Claire, so it would not have been right for them to get to read theirs whilst Claire did not.
I totally understand where Ryan is coming from, and he is within his right to be upset, but i guarantee once he comes out he'll say to himself i should have suck it up and got on with it.
Btw, yes Claire was a slight selfish, but again rightly or wrongly understandably so. Let us also not forget two others got to read their letters too. I guess they all just supposed it would be alright. Which it wasn't.

That doesn't necessarily mean she can't get upset though does it? After all we aren't all the same.

But why does she get priority? Just because she got upset? It's not fair on the other parents in there. Frankie has 5 kids.

I know, I'm just saying that just because she isn't the only parent in there isn't a reason why she can't cry. If she's emotional, then she's emotional.
I agree with you that it was a slight selfish though.
I think she was very selfish and it's not the first time she's shown this side of her character. I'm also very fed up with her crying but I wasn't impressed by Razor again last night. He said several times, to make sure we heard "big men do cry". He showed total disreguard for Ryan's feelings although he's supposed to like him so much. Razor has turned out to be an unpleasant character IMO although I liked him before he went into the house.
Apologies OP I know this post is about Claire. Yes I do think she was selfish.

He was happy that they got their letters, he even read out Razor's to him, but I don't think he should have just 'moved on'. It would have been worse imo if he had bitched about it in the diary room, kudos for him for actually telling the others how he felt about it...

I agree he was right to tell them what he felt, but i just feel he should have handled it slightly differently. But granted, I'm only assuming what went on yesterday in the house (not the highlights), the impression i got from BOTS was that he had a bit of a strop. If that is not the case and he like you say, just explained how he felt then definitely credit to him as it must have been tough on him. Although, i'm guessing BB will give him the letter in the diary room as opposed to in the house at some point.
Btw, i'm not against Ryan, if it was up to me he'd win. Not necessarily because of what he brought to the house in terms of entertainment, but more so because he just seems like a honest genuine guy.

It wasn't just Claire who opened her letter though in all fairness.
I agree it was selfish that she was prioritised but she was not the only one who was at fault for that. When she heard the letters were in the hatch she did sit back down and initially seemed willing to not get the letters. Razor and Rylan were most vocal and encouraging of them to receive the letters and I don't really see why Claire is being singled out, Tricia and Razor got theirs too and Rylan was especially vocal about them taking them, yeah he did it because he saw an opening to be a hero but never the less he nor the rest gave a second thought about Ryan.

I said Claire because she was the one who didn't get her letter the last time, all the others would have gotten theirs that time, so it was for her benefit that everyone else lost their letters last time

I totally agree, she was selfish but I think everyone else were too, they decided to support Claire but not Ryan. It's sad they think she's worth taking a hit for but Ryan isn't.
The only smart ones were Speidi, they took their letter without hesitation haha

I actually wished Ryan had vented in the diary room. Isn't that part of the BB experience is becoming dependent on BB as a confidant??
I think that is one thing this series is lacking. The only ones using the diary room are Speidi and Rylan. The others seem to only go in under duress, and they don't say anything.
And yes, Claire was selfish. The whole house is taking this "That's Claire from Steps" thing way to much to heart.

because the english contestants are always sucking up to each other because they think it will benefit their careers in england, they dont give a damn about an aussie or a yank as they dont think it will affect their careers. its always the same every single show every single year

Yes, it was offensive and abusive, like I said in another thread, if he does that on the outside he would get a police warning or a caution for public disorder.

No, I do not think she was selfish at all.
They all agreed not to have their letters at first in protest at Speidi. Then the girls won the letters back, nobody was too bothered about them getting them back to start with, Toady has used it ever since to get airtime. If anyone has been selfish it is him and the way he has tried to make them feel bad about it ever since they got them.
