View Full Version : Spencer's speech proves why they have been the best housemates by far this year

I posted this elsewhere but for me, that speech is just proof of how much they have contributed to this series.
They were clearly genuine tears and emotions. Once Ryan admitted Spencer had said to him 'this is a job for us' I think it was pretty obvious that they were acting and it's just part of their characters. It was their role on The Hills and it's their role here too, that's what they do. They understand the need for drama and entertainment in reality TV, they 'get it', and that's what makes them thousands of times better housemates than any of the rest. It's all just a game, an act, a persona - it's not the real them.
And I think it's commendable that he has earnt his fee and done what he was paid to do, that is more than can be said for the rest of them who have sat on the fence, stayed in the background and have wasted hundreds of thousands of pounds of the budget. They have made this series, and people can try and deny it all they want, but they have, it's indisputable. Without them it would've crumbled into a puddle of piss. They are clearly nice, genuine people at heart but this is a TV show and as I try and stress so much on this forum, the idea is to create drama, events, talking points and they get that, he's tried to and he has succeeded.
And to be quite honest even if that was still an act, it was bloody brilliant acting and the best finish to what has been incredible game playing from them the entire series. So it's win win either way, but you will still get the usual few coming in here and not getting it. Sad really, but IMO, that is not only the best speech ever delivered in one of these final night dinners on Big Brother, but that's the perfect 'closure' to what has been an impeccable few weeks of entertainment from them. Brilliant job.

Read the last paragraph. I added it on because either way you see it, it's win win in terms of their contribution to the series.

Agreed.
So he tells BB to give them more wine and he'd make a toast and start crying. They get wine. Then he gives the toast and cries, just like he said he would. And that's either incredibly genuine or amazing acting? Wouldn't have been more genuine or better acting if he hadn't announced it beforehand?

This is a good point actually. I love them and all but I never really considered I'd be thinking they could challenge any of my all time favourites to take the top place, but after that, and looking back at this series, that is definitely a possibility.
They are though, without a doubt, the only actual game players we've ever had on this show. I mean in the sense that they've gone in, put on a persona, and then pretty much admitted to it on the way out. I have always, like Emma, wanted for that to happen and I thought we'd had hints of it with Aaron but while he was a great housemate and winner, didn't play the game like these two have. Absolute genius from start to finish.
All time greats for sure.

Yeah, Aaron's act was up to and before entering the house, Speidi's act lasted until their final day!

I really hope that isn't shown tomorrow. They should show his speech in full, and then end the highlights on that note and not close the lines for at least ten minutes. Because if you ask me, that's probably the best shot at winning they've given themselves all series. Honestly if this was easy and we had logical people voting they'd walk it, it's frustrating how difficult it is to ensure the best housemate wins.

This. It would make it so epic if they ended on that note and the audience would have their jaws dropped.

Absolutely. That speech was such a jaw dropping moment, whether you believe them or not, the fact that he did it was just amazing. They are legends.

Clearly, judging by the many posts in support of Speidi, I am in a minority in that I don't want to watch Big Brother with a bunch of people 'acting' in the house. I want to see a bunch of characters living in a house being themselves, and gauging how they act and react with one another. The fact that Speidi have been 'acting' all along (if that's even the truth) makes me feel really saddened that that is what BB has resorted to for so-called entertainment.
I daresay I'll now be hammered by the Speidi mob, but frankly, this year's CBB has done nothing but depress me watching a couple of arrogant, self-obsessed, rude, unsociable, spoiled, immature, lazy, selfish, game-playing American wannabes.
I've said it before, but will reiterate - when did BB stop becoming a social experiment and start becoming a 'game' show with people surreptitiously masking their true personalities?
Tragic.

Haven't found myself that intrigued to live feed since Marcus and Kenny's great escape to be quite honest.
I literally reminded it and watched it again and again, anyone that says they were crocodile tears is talking out their ass.
Perfect closure to the series - the series that belonged to them IMO. And Rylan showed himself up to being a right piece of work by going out and bitching about them straight afterwards.
The pair of them really are genuinely lovely people and I swear I would love to meet them one day, really would.
And as you said, fair play to them for taking their money and coming into the show to DELIVER the entertainment and do what they were paid to do. Where as the 'bigger stars' have done jack sh*t for the whole month.

'genuinely lovely people' ? :laugh2: That's possibly the funniest thing I have ever read on here!
I'm not being funny but if you saw them & went to greet them in the street they would have a taser or pepper spray on you before you could say 'Hi' :joker: That's if you have not been pinned to the ground with a gun to your head by one of their many bodyguards...

they've not shouted or sworn aggressively at anybody at all, unlike Rylan and Razor. the argument that they're evil and mean is BS.
