Anyone else hate when you get into a lift and it is that really awful, uncomfortable silence and the lift takes ages to get to the floor you need?

Yeah, don't really mind if it's an old person though they tend to start decent conversations about things in Elevators from my Experience

I was in the elevator yesterday and a german guy started a conversation about the lift company (called Schindlers lifts, lol) and saying how they were German and how Schindler was a friend of Hitlers and how the Nazi's were not given enough credit.

Usually I can respond to most situations and talk to anyone but I was just in the lift feeling like :conf2:

..I would avoid getting into a lift..to be confined is a small space with strangers is every kind of phobia known to mankind...

This

To be honest whenever I have HAD to get in a lift which is not very often its me that makes people uncomfortable. It's strange seeing a grown woman trying to claw her way into the corner whilst white, shaking and chanting " please don't break, please don't break down....."

..yeah, that would be me Annie...heights, loss of electricity, something snapping, people staring at you, diseases, lunatics, plummeting, darkness, panic attacks, a shortage of oxygen...

...the least of your worries would be some German person talking to you....

I usually just get my knob out and start playing with it. Takes away any awkwardness

:joker: typical Marc.

I hardly go on lifts, if the stairs are an option I take them.

The only one I have been on recently is the one in my doctors, it only goes up 3 floors and I swear it's the slowest lift in the world, it's horrible standing there with everyone coughing round about you :bored:

I absolutely hate it. Lifts are the spawn of the devil tbh

Once I got into a lift and there was the most horrific smell. Obviously someone had farted and it really lingered. Next floor someone else got in and gave me such a look. Must have thought it was me :bored:

I just get into the lift and get out at my floor, I don't ever remember feeling awkward. I'd rather strangers didn't start up a conversation with me, but if they do, that's fine. So long as they're not nutters...

They are incredibly awkward, even if I'm with someone I know I feel really uncomfortable talking to them when there's a stranger in there with you as well, sometimes you can have some good elevator banter though

When your in a Taxi with a real miserable driver is the worst, i've had some characters in my time when it comes to Taxi Drivers.. i had some guy having an argument with his wife on the phone once and then after it he was telling me about his life story and why he hates his her and how he was thinking about leaving her and moving away, didn't know what to say, just sat there in agreement as he was laying into her

I always assume I'll be raped and killed when I get into a taxi, but it's the risk I take when I can't be bothered to walk home.

I had a great Taxi Driver who drove me home once at 2am and once my friends had got out we had another 15 minutes to drive and he told me all about his day job - he worked in a funeral home as an embalmer and explained in detail what you do with a dead body.....freaked me out as he said he knew all the ways in which to kill people and get away with it.....was glad when I got home that night!
