At stand-up comedy, not so much...

However, in terms of writing and acting - particularly in the states - women are equal if not superior. Amy Poehler is probably the best person alive right now. Love Tina Fey, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Lena Dunham (&all of 'Girls'), Aubrey Plaza, Jo Brand, Kerry Godliman, Joanna Scanlan, Tamsin Grieg...

Oh, and Jenna Maroney is the best character on TV right now.

i could never like anything with Julia Louis-Dreyfus. yea and that includes Seinfeld lol.

i like 30 Rock but im glad its ending after this season. its been rough for me to get through these last 2-3 seasons cause the character of Tracy & Jenna are f'ing retarded imo. its just dumb. the main reason i watch this show is Tina Fey & Alec Baldwin. even though their characters get involved with those two annoying douchers from time to time it makes it a lot easier to get through it.

I'd never seen anything of JLD's until Veep, which she's excellent in.

And :nono: Tracy and Jenna are brilliant. They're meant to be obnoxious, stupid and vapid. It's fun. I find it interesting that Tracy Morgan's had a few problems off-stage, though, with offending people... some infamous thing about saying he'd disown his son were he to come out as gay, during a stand-up routine. Weird.

I can dig holes, I can mow the lawn, I can use power tools, take care of my own car, clear my own gutters, hang wallpaper, pick up spiders, change a fuse.... What I can't do is sit in front of the football scratching my b*ll*cks. So I will admit there are some things men can do that women can't.

Was watching that Sarah Millican show last night, don't know if it was just her voice but I found her very annoying and not funny at all, also find the female characters in sitcoms/comedy films tend to be the least funny :idc:

Ah right well I clicked no in the poll because I rarely find female comedians to be funny, but yes women can be funny in general.

I didnt say anything about equal rights. I don't think men and women are equal beings; I think men are physically stronger, I think women are mentally stronger.. there are too man6 differences to list just now as I need to go get ready!

Me neither, I think that's a big generalisation. I think that's completely down to the individual person

30-01-2013, 02:23 PM
The only real difference between men and women are dicks and twats.

The rest is all socialisation and it's all in people's heads that men are 'stronger' and women are better at 'emotional needs'. It only appears to be true because that's what people have been taught to believe. A self-fulfilling prophecy almost.

MeMyselfAndI

Physically, men are usually stronger but that's down to how are bodies are made up. The rest I completely agree with you on.

Okay maybe not strength then but again that's in no way a definitive thing, there's numerous exceptions.

MeMyselfAndI
30-01-2013, 02:37 PM
Obviously there are going to be exceptions, but the strongest woman in the world wouldn't be close to the top 100 strongest men, and same with almost all if not all physical sports.

She's a brilliant character... but the actress herself is a bit sniffy isn't she. She refused to take part in a documentary they made about the series because she was annoyed that the character was overshadowing her serious acting career.
