TV isn't reality, it's a completely different entity altogether, and a reality TV show is even further away from reality.

Housemates acting up and playing a game in order to create talking points is beneficial, sitting on the fence, uttering no words over the course of the series and floating into the final may be a standard example of 'oooh yay you're so real' but it's ultimately dull and brand-damaging.

No it isn't, the whole concept of Big Brother is filming a bunch of strangers living in a house 24/7. There's nothing in the rules about 'being yourself' and people have questioned for years whether housemates actually are being themselves, whether it is possible to be your true self and indeed whether it's better to be your true self or not.

In this instance, Speidi playing their villainous characters made for intriguing and discussion-worthy TV. Take that away and we're left with a sh*t series, ratings in tatters and a damaged brand. Again, why a real Big Brother fan would wish that on the show, I don't know...

To be fair, the concept of Big Brother is to lock people in a house for 24 hours a day with no contact with the outside world and see how they react, it's a social experiment, so if Speidi were acting, then that was their reaction.

I can't see how accepting to have dinner at Frankie's as the show has now finished can be seen as a negative at all? :conf2: If they hadn't gone, would they have been called out for that as unsociable? :conf: How can be being seen as getting along after what is obviously just treated as a gameshow by that group, be seen as something to be negative about? If they were still in the house I could see it by some, however to carry a dislike of them outside the house for something as nice as meeting for that meal, I cannot understand the dislike, unless they are not going to be disliked by some no matter what they do.
