View Full Version : Will you buy SimCity regardless of the issues with the game?

Namely the always online DRM, that requires you to have a constant connection to the internet to play. There are other issues too, such as ingame purchases.
I think I'm gonna stick with Sim City 4. EA have gotten to greedy.

With it being an EA game it will likely have them (All their other games do), it'll probably be like how the Sims 3 does it, putting items in your "Buy" window that you have to pay to unlock.

I will buy it yeah. The UI and the way the new game works looks fantastic, and I can't wait to get my hands on it.
The only problem is that I'm not sure if I ever will get my hands on it, given how spectacularly awful EA treatment of Mac customers has been in the past.

Announcements for the Mac version are coming in early April -sigh- it'll probably be delayed more now because of the initial launch problems

Even after all these issues that have come up with the game? And you just know EA is gonna throw out some subway DLC so that they can make more money from you.

I seriously doubt that it being released this side of the summer now if I'm honest. Mainly because the game is a full port into native Mac code, and if they haven't even finished that just yet, then I don't have much hope for them ironing out the myriad of bugs that will be within the game in just a couple months.
EA are just the worst game developer in existence I loathe them so much.

Well I'm a massive fan of the series. I used to spend hours on the Sim City 4 when I was younger and create these massive metropolises with massive populations.
Anyway, the server issues are something that'll probably be non-existant in the current magnitude in a couple months time so I'm not too worried about that. I mean the initial Mac port will probably have so many bugs, but I can bear with that. I just want to play the game. In fairness to EA, the actual game does actually look good, even if they haven't exactly got a server network that's up to code.
And I won't be buying that DLC, because well, I'm not a moron. That and I know they're massive money grabbing assholes, so I shan't be giving in to them.
