If you've ever done an IQ test what were the results?

We did one today in class and it told me I was moderately disabled lol with a score of 77, I didn't take it seriously, I wish I had tbh, think I could have done much better.

I usually get between 127 and 132 in those, I've only ever done online ones though, don't know how accurate they are

That's all ours was, our tutor said most of them are pretty inaccurate. I want to take a real one now.

Online ones are usually ridiculously unreliable. And 77 isn't that bad even if it were a true score :p 95% of the population are between 70 and 130.

Unless you're doing a supervised Mensa IQ test it doesn't really mean anything. And even then the jury's out.

What Livia said. I've done standardised tests in school, though, and got 126/127, which is supposed to be high but not exceptional or anything.

Not very accurate, I know my IQ to be 149 and that test gave me a score of 160.

Genuine IQ scores have to be taken with a pinch of salt anyway. I think you have to form a confidence band or something so your real score could be five or ten points higher or lower. They're only supposed to give a rough estimate.

Actually I agree, plus the size of the confidence interval is probably a lot larger for extreme scores.

Yeah, extreme cases tend to be pulled back towards the average. So if you get a very low score (70-), they'll add a lot of points and if you get a very high score (120/130+), they tend to subtract a lot of points.

It's entirely symmetrical for average scores based around 100, so it's a bit uneven before and after that. Particularly in the event of extreme cases, as you say.

Yeah, positive and negative skews and all that. Someone should come up with a transformations of the log-normal distribution to model the the CI size for scores above 100.

Agree. Mind, scores marginally above 100 are nothing to write home about. You only really start hitting above average once you get to 115, though on some tests that's 110/111, is it not?
