Mario and Lisa split up :(

They're best known as the limelight-hungry couple who shot to fame when they appeared on Big Brother back in 2008.

But Lisa Appleton and Mario Marconi have now called time on their marriage and eight-and-a-half-year romance once and for all.

Claiming they had been 'unhappy for a while', Lisa explained the final straw in the pair's union came when they were duped by convicted conman Selva Carmichael into being followed by cameras for six months to film a fake reality show.

The 45-year-old brunette explained Carmichael - dubbed 'The Silver Fox' - 'destroyed' her two-year marriage to Mario, 47, with his lies after they filmed a for 18 hours a day for a documentary which they believed would make them stars.

Lisa said of the split: 'Towards the end we just hated each other - Carmichael tore our lives apart and destroyed our relationship.

'Mario and I were unhappy for a while - our whole world fell apart around us when we got conned.'

But it would seem Lisa and Mario - real name Shaun Astbury - are extremely quick movers, with both of them already shacking up with new partners, despite calling time on their marriage just three weeks ago.

This is really strange reading about this because, I'm watching BB9 at the moment, that's a real shame they have split up, as much as I didn't like Mario, i hate to see someone's marriage break up.

Wasn't Mario in the B-block most of the time? I remember he went to the bedroom with Mo after he got spat-at... I remember he had an issue with Kat at one point when he was all 'GROW UP' after comforting her 3 days before... but nothing against the likes of Darnell, Rex etc... maybe I'm wrong.

Well I think it momentarily stopped when that happened cause nearly everyone condemned the spitting but most times they bitched with the Jen group horrible is probably too strong but they were affiliated with that lot

I agree, and it was a travesty that no one saw just how fantastically genuine Mo was!...He was a true innocent, with a heart as big as the Blackpool Tower , and should have won the series by a landslide!..
But unfortunately...big brother viewers prefer to reward smarmy 'gameplayers' such as 'Rex and Darnell' by voting for them to stay!
Of course Mario and Lisa didn't outlast Mo...but within the criteria of 'being entertaining', ...then surely they should have made the finals!
Because,... though loathsome.. they both surely were',...they were also both entertaining and funny, in a 'desperate-for-fame' sort of way!

...and yes!...I am kinda disappointed that they've separated!...They seemed to fit together somehow. :(

I liked Lisa and was meh about Mario in BB. I developed a strong dislike for Kat once she started to see Lisa as a threat and got her little crew to try and vote her out, well they succeded in the Lisa vs Sara week but Kat got karma the week after:D.
