Paul Pogba has blamed Sir Alex Ferguson for his failure to make a mark at Manchester United.

The 19-year-old Juventus midfielder said that even though there was a shortage of midfielders at Old Trafford, he was not given an opportunity.

Pogba explained that the final straw came when Ferguson decided to bring back the retired Paul Scholes instead of giving him a run of games

'It was all down to Ferguson,' Pogba told The Times. 'I didn't want to sign a contract as Ferguson didn't play me, even though there were no midfielders there. He obviously thought I didn't deserve the contract I asked for and didn't put me in the team even though he had no midfield players, it was his choice.

'United were short of midfield players like me, but it was the manager's decision. I couldn't do anything about it. I was very frustrated because he spoke to me a few times and said I was nearly there.

'I told him: "If I don't play then I can't get any experience and see how far I have to go." I played in a few cup games but he didn't want to give me a contract and they just let me go.'

Pogba is certainly making his mark at Juventus - he has scored four goals in 19 appearances this season. While he was with United he only appeared seven times - as a substitute

He told Ferguson that he needed to be given a chance like Ryan Giggs and Scholes were when they broke through. Pogba knew his time in Manchester was coming to a close when the latter came out of retirement.

'When I saw Scholes come back part of me was really happy as he's a legend, but I knew it was the end for me. The manager thought Scholes had to play, not me, and after that I had to leave.

'Maybe Ferguson will regret it now but I don't think about Manchester United any more. I have no regrets about leaving Manchester, none at all

Without hating on Fergie this whole Interview Pogba speaks the truth espically the bits in bold don't blame him one bit

Disgraceful decision from Fergie and he'll be sorry for it when Pogba is one of the best players in the near future

Fergie just goes and splashes out on other clubs young talent rather then build up his own. The only notable Utd young players since that golden generation in 95 have been O'shea, Brown, Cleverly, Welbeck, Evams not exactly world class. thats why he goes for Phil jones, chris smalling players who are top class talent.

How many teams can say they regularly start 3 academy players and play about three others we bought when they were 18?

Welbeck,Clev are both England starters and Evans has been one of the best defenders this season.

As for Pogba I ain't even mad. Maybe if we flopped this season I would be.

Brother I know you are very loyal to Fergie and as a man of integrity myself I respect that quality. However I want you to admit he ****ed the Pogba situation up

Never saw much of Pogba myself, heard lot's of good things about him though. Perhaps it will be a mistake by Fergie but, you can't keep everyone.

Look at Barcelona. Fabregas, Alba, Pique and more. And then they ended up buying those three back.

Ryan you ignoring the key difference my good man. Barca were STACKED in all those positions while we were bringing OAP's out of retirement and playing right backs ahead of Pogba in Centre midfield

Disgusting if I am being totally honest

Those players left Barca because of the Spanish clubs inability to offer contracts to their young players. Other clubs took advantage of this and snapped them up.

It wasn't ever a case of Barca not rating those players and allowing them to leave.
