Locals in the Brazilian town of Santo Antônio da Platina got a rather creepy shock when spiders were spotted hanging overhead on electrical lines. The footage of the critters was posted up on YouTube by web designer Erick Reis and seemed to show a high number of the creatures calmly squatting on spider webs they had made on the power lines. The 20-year-old told Brazil’s G1 he filmed the strange occurrence on the way home from a friend’s engagement party. The media outlet confirmed with a local biologist the species of spider was Anelosimus eximius, which are known for congregating in massive colonies.According to the expert these arachnids work in groups so they catch larger prey. We’re hoping for the sake of the locals the spiders don’t enjoy humans. The YouTube video lasts for four minutes and 33 seconds but that may be four minutes and 33 seconds too long for any arachnophobes out there.

..I remember this a few years ago...
Travelers who are looking to see something a little bit on the creepy side should take the first plane to Waga Waga, Australia. In a bit of evolutionary wonder, the town has recently been hit with major flooding. In response to the flooding, the towns millions of spiders have banded together to build massive webs across huge swaths of sticks and bushes. Some of them cover entire fields.
The strange spiderweb blankets were first reported by the BBC. According to the news outlet, approximately 9,000 people in Wagga Wagga been forced to evacuate due to flooding. Wagga Wagga is a popular stopover for people heading between Adelaide, Sydney or Melbourne.
The spider web blankets are a wonder that scientists are having a difficult time explaining
..there are some creepy pics as well but I won't post them...

I remember that too. There was a thread about it iirc.
..yeah, I made the thread...I found it fascinating actually, even though I'm not a huge spider fan...the pictures looked like snow scenes, only they were webs...quite beautiful...

That's pretty fascinating! I like spiders so it doesn't bother me watching it, but I'm sure if I seen something like that in real life, I'd be freaked out.
