He was arrested for child sex offences once before, but apparently cleared, turns out the bastard wasnt cleared after all.

First time around, he was never charged, there wasnt enough evidence, for the case to come back, they must have found some serious proof.

This case is not as straightforward as one might think, all the charges refer to one person and as the CPS decided there was not enough evidence a year ago what has now changed since no new allegations have arisen? This would appear to be a case of my word against your word hardly enough to convict in a court of law beyond a reasonable doubt.
I wonder if the recent Jimmy Savile debacle has had some influence on the CPS to change their view on this.
Either way I would imagine even with no charges his role on Coronation Street is probably now at an end...!!

It could be that more evidence has come to light? I thought that for the CPS to bring charges there has to be more than just one word against another? Although I may be wrong on that.
You are right though the recent allegations and uproar caused by the saville case may have caused them to look more closey at this case.

:idc:Are all these charges on the same child? And he's pleading not guilty eh? WTF if the kid is lying about being raped 6 times then lock them up instead but if he's guilty then he's going away for a very very long time.
