more and more thread's being made asking question's that you can find on google without the need to make a thread on this site asking the same question.

General chat/chat means just that doesn't it, general chat/chat? I don't see that it mattters what the subject content of a thread is for the most part, we can cherry pick which threads we want to read surely. Maybe some members would rather just ask opinions of others than google every question. Plus, every forum has what some would consider nonsense threads, so I just don't see a problem, unless it's a spambot, and some of their threads aren't that bad :joker:

..the thing is Sheriff that you started a thread asking a question..maybe some people would think that it's the sort of question you could have asked privately to the mod team to verify what the rules were on threads or explain if something has offended you...but you made a thread instead and it's created posts and activity...if you had done it differently then we would probably all not have anything to post in this morning...so in a way it's a good thing, right..?...

....someone made a thread a few days ago about the number of members online yet no one was posting...that's not a good thing because the forum could die if that happens... so it seems better to have some activity and hopefully if different members start threads then there'll be 'something for everyone' as well...

Forums teach us how to play nicely together (most of the time), and if everyone liked the same things we'd end up with every thread with members laughing at the same members posts continually with excessive wavey and jokey smilies.

It absolutely is an issue of respect though. I do not take kindly to being spoken down to or having assumptions made about hidden meanings in the posts I make. I am not a kid and if that was what I was trying to say I would say it. I was merely saying what I do when I see a thread that has no interest to me which I thought was the point of this thread?

..actually I'm glad LJ reminded me of the word 'sarcasm' because I have not been either sarcastic or insulting/offensive in this thread at all...this thread has recieved over 50 posts this morning and my feelings are that sort of activity wouldn't have occurred on the forum without your thread, so for me it's a good thing which I stated from the beginning...the same can be said of any other posts you may be referring to..if they are 'silly' posts or unnecessary posts then no one will post in them but so long as they do create interest then the 'point' of them is very obvious ..I myself recall a sweetcorn thread recently which recieved far more posts than whether tinned sweetcorn was already cooked or not merited but that's because it created interest and became fun for lots of members...if people don't feel it's fun then there is always the option to not participate or report if you feel it breaks a rule...we all have those options....

....you seem so defensive in this that you have become offensive and failed to see that I was actually complimenting your thread as 'all threads are good threads' including yours, especially at quiet times ...unless they break rules of the forum or are designed to snipe at/offend members obviously....

So now not only threads which descend into off-topic random chat in a random thread in Chat & Games which'll only last a couple of hours before dying off aren't allowed, but any thread which asks a question isn't either? Forums teach us how to play nicely together (most of the time), and if everyone liked the same things we'd end up with every thread with members laughing at the same members posts continually with excessive wavey and jokey smilies.

We're not arguing apple. I was taught never to argue with stupid people, as you'll drag me down to your level, and then beat me with experience. This is just thread discussion.

I don't have a folder for them, I just type stuff into google images with the word "gif" after it. Hardly rocket science.

Why are you so bloody caustic with people? and allowed to get away with it, blimey I hope people know you are not really Jesus.

Jesus does have a point. The overuse of idiotic smileys is ridiculous.
