Does anyone remember tv's where you would either rent them or buy them by putting in 50p or a pound for a couple of hours of watching tv, every month a bloke would come and empty it and if there was over a certain amount you got to keep the access .
My dad once wired it differently so instead of the time going down it would go up. And when the tv man was due he would put in a couple of quid and turn the timer down.
Anyone else do this?
Think they also had washing machines and electric metres

I can remember my nan had one about 10-15yrs ago.
She always had 50p's piled on top of her telly :joker:
Would probably cost you about £50 to watch an episode of Eastenders these days

My nana had one of those, she would send us the shop with money to get 50p's for her and let us get a bag of sweets for going. Awww memories!

I had an electric meter in a bedsit I lived in as a teenager, I opened it with a hairgrip and put a quid in about 20 times haha!

I've never heard of this in my life. I feel like an alien who's just landed on earth and learned of a new custom.

That's because they had cave drawings instead of TV's in your day.

I can't believe that you've never heard of them? :suspect:
Never had one of them but one of my friends used to have a power card meter that didnt realise the power card had already been used and it added 5 quid every time she inserted it, so she just left it sitting at the meter for when the money ran down.

..I don't remember them either..I'm almost the oldest person in the world...

I can't imagine anything like that. It sounds like soviet russia.
So Tv's were like video games or something? like you had to put coins in them to make them work? That's craziness.
