Are you more confident on this forum than you are in real life?

I'm pretty much the same...

..not really, I'm pretty much the same, I think...I'm ok with people 'one to one' kind of thing, but feel a bit 'crowded' in chat threads and stuff when there's lots of people talking at the same time...I think that reflects how I am in real life...

I'm just as confident, but i probably am less aggressive here, cause i don't wanna be banned. If it wasn't for infractions i could be more like my normal self.

The mods here make me censor myself.

I would say the same really.

Mostly the same, maybe even less confident online sometimes because I worry that people won't get me, they won't know when I'm joking or being sarcastic etc.

but yur a mod. yu can just ban people that don't get you. why would you worry what people think when you have ultimate control over them? You have all of the power.

its easy to be on line, at the end of the day we are just people, but some people would not dream of saying some of the thing's they say on here face to face!.

I'm quite a bit more confident online. I guess that's because being behind a keyboard like this gives me so much more control over everything that happens.

Actually less confident after thinking about it, especially on here but I am gaining in confidence I think, some people can be really judgemental.

..do you wish you were more like that in real life Niall..?..I think on here you're kind of confident enough but a little bit shy as well..do you feel confident in any real life situations..?...

...for me I think most people here are less judgemental SH..I always feel much more 'judged' in real life...

I'm pretty much the same I think. I agree with Josy though.. in real life I am quite sarcastic and enoy taking the piss out of folk but I do hold back on here (apart from ben and marc as I know they can take it and they pick on me all the time)

No, on here I am always thinking of how to express something, it is really hard to work out the tone with which a statement is made from the written word, some things that seem aggressive are not in the slightest way meant aggressively or written that way.
If you were face to face others could see the real intention behind the statement and also hear the tone intended too.

However, I will stand up for myself on here if I am pushed to,as I do find aggression on here which I have had to deal with. I am not a teachers pet and don't like running to people in authority with things I need to say myself,I would if in great difficulty but very rarely.

Sadly though it can be as you stand up for yourself you are deemed at times to be the likely aggressor rather than you actually being the one defending themselves.

So yes, I do take great care much more as to what I do and say on here, not feeling confident that what I am saying will be taken in the genuine way it is meant, especially when dealing with unfair criticism and personal attacks.

In situations like that off here, I would be able to have much more and full confidence in dealing with such things in the tone required and that was appropriate too.

I do I suppose. I can be quite reserved at times irl and it's really stupid.

And I don't think I am really. It's quite rare for me to feel properly confident in situations irl. I feel confident when I'm in English at school I suppose because I'm kind of in my element with that, but at any other time not really.

About the same, maybe a bit less because even though it's more anonymous what you post can be seen by literally anyone as opposed to just being among a limited group of friends/people in real life

..yeah, I do agree Lee, I think the main thing you have to think about more online than in real life is humour..you can post something that you know your family and friends would realise wasn't serious, but not know if someone would take offence here..humour isn't always easy to judge in someone until you get used to them more...

About the same, but this forum's gotten very... strict for want of a better term. So, I'm actually less so.

Having said that I'd be more inclined to pull someone up for pissing me off straight away on here whereas in real life it would take a couple of instances to make me confront it. But then again someone would have to do something a lot more serious to piss me off in real life than a lot of things on this forum.

I am more confident online then in real life. On the internet I can express my opinions more whereas if I say something in public their is more chance of being judged.

Cam down love, people get warnings for using that kind of language around here.

Yes, I've not been on for a few weeks. But I've still more or less lurked when I could and I meant in general over the last few months, before I had a break.

Where did I specify it happened overnight or while I was away?

And no, I am more than capable of forming my own opinions. You know about opinions on this subject already.

I say what I actually think more in real life than here. Its not a confidence thing though, I just have to hold back a lot of the time because being a mod, my actual opinions often get used against me :p
