top five for me:

(i wouldn't include bowie because he was solo but i suppose he technically had a band)

plant, daltrey, mercury, ian curtis and morrissey

i'd also say hendrix because he was part of the 'experience' but i dunno, seemed more of a solo dude to me

..I think Robert Plant for me but he didn't have the same 'flair' as some of the leads...so probably Freddie Mercury for that...amazing presence...

I think Jim Morrison is pretty awesome, and a really intense performer (from the bits I've seen). If I could go to any gig from history, it would have to be a Doors gig.

I agree, all the live bits and pieces Ive seen make it look like a pretty damn good experience.

I'd go for Freddie Mercury, he was such a massive presence when onstage.

However, had his life not ended so tragically, I would have said Ian Curtis of Joy Division. From the old films of concerts I have seen of them,he had incredible stage presence too coupled with a vulnerability, which was another drawing in factor.
A great talent lost way too soon.

nah, just a dick. GNR are probably the most overrated band ever. 4 or 5 good songs and that's it.

In terms of longevity I think we'd have to say Mick Jagger takes it.
