And all mobile phones could do was call and text, would you actually see any point in having one? Do you use them to call and text or for some other, more modern/smartphone purposes? Or both?

I suppose even before smartphones as we know them now came out, some decent apps were included quite a while before that so they weren't just 'bricks' that could do two simple tasks. Anything prior to 2004/3 would count probably.

Yes I would still have one and would as I do with my phones now, try to avoid using them as much as possible. I really don't like them to be honest.

i think if you are younger or into i,t, then you go down the smart phone route, older people tend to have a mobile phone's for emergency's, some only use them for work.

To be fair, those phones weren't exactly what I had in mind...I was on about the ones that could only call/text, more or less. Not Walkman ones from the mid-2000s LOL.

I had a cell phone 10 years ago, yes. my parents bought me one. (my dad still pays for my cell phone)

I remember when everyone just had pagers. Everyone had pagers when i was in high school, so of course a cell phone is better than a pager.
