Beautiful. If only this happened more often. Generosity and sense of community are key to a better society

I'd feel quite scared if I didn't know what Anonymous was and I saw a group of guys wearing masks walking down the street

Could be one of those who blows his money of booze, it isn't particularly any of those people's fault that he is homeless

That doesn't mean we should just leave them to rot. It's that callous kind of attitude that has segregated so many people in so many different ways.

Yes. The mask though originally came from the film 'V for Vendetta' (the main character wore one). I believe so anyway.

It's less about the group that's done this and more about the principle of it, IMO.

The videos on Youtube always make me laugh with crap like "Operation: Catflap" (I'm so betting that is an actual name they used)

The last minute was nice. The first 5 was too "Everybody look at how nice I am, this is anonymous lets take our masks off and get photos for Facebook" Better than nothing I guess but right now they're sitting at the top of their high horse for donating £3.

This

Hate the group.

Fair enough they are giving money to a homeless man, but I think a lot of it has to do with publicity

P.s I give money to homeless people/charity all the time. I'm not a hypocrite/selfish at all

Am i the only one that finds this scary and disturbing? True mob/sheep mentality. Listen to them like a cult. "We're the only ones that care about you, can't you feel the love? We are the answer". Pure propaganda.

~the crowd clears, the streets empty, nary a soul to be found~
<man gets up, shakes off poor posture and holds earnings tightly to his chest>
<saunters down the street>
<rounds corner and speaks to man near booth>

"She's ready for you, Carl, ya ol devil, ya."
"Thanks for looking after her, here's something for your troubles." <hands over a few bills>
<driver comes out of carport by booth in new blazing red corvette>
<Carl gets in and drives off> "SUCKERRRRRRS!"

Still a fun video and a lovely last minute. :)

It felt and looked contrived as all hell. It turned into something nicer, but the publicity of it was similar to politicians kissing babies to garner support for their campaign/cause. I'm not sure anyone is denying that part.

And I'm never drinking Pepsi again.

The sentiment is there, and the guy obviously appreciated it, but I don't see the need for them to stick mobile phones and video cameras in his face just because they see fit to do so.

Have to say I didn't watch the vid last night and I think i'm getting this group mixed up with one called 'random acts of kindness' or something.

Anonymous arent really one single group, they're more of an idea, a lot of people just latch onto the name.

..it's not callous at all though Jack..I cringed when I watched the vid for lots of reasons..that guy is not going to be any less 'segregated' because he's been given some money on a 'one off' which he may or may not spend on alcohol/food..no one knows but either way, he'll still be where he is tomorrow and the next day because what they did was of no 'real help'..and do they actually help people in ways that really would make a difference..do they donate regularly to charities for the homeless..give up their time to work in shelters...even buy a McDonalds or something..a hot drink etc and give them to people...old warm clothes they have in their wardrobes...something that would make a lasting difference....do they give them any advice on any programmes etc which could help them learn some skills and get them 'off the street'....

..I don't see that being a bit sceptical of what they're doing or how it will benefit him is being callous...they say they're 'anonymous' but yet they're 'playing' to a crowd of people there..I would be more convinced if they really were anonymous and they 'anonymously' gave that guy help..but giving money to someone is kind of the easy option...no effort really..that poor guy like so many the same needs help that does require effort and time..and a real commitment...maybe they do that as well, as I don't know much about them, (and I will read up on them)..but I didn't see any of that in the vid...just a bigging up of themselves and a guy who would maybe eat (or drink) for a few days ....and then everything will be as it was for him....

Pretty much, neither group really exists as a 'group', it's just a bunch of people running around with a title.

i dont know much about this group so I cant judge them, however i think the guy was just happy thAT someone noticed he was alive...the hugs alone were probably worth more to him than the money..its so hard to get connecttions with people these days, let alone for a chap living on the streets.
so overall it at least achieved that and gave him enough money for a few meals

however on a deeper level, no one listened to a word he had to say, they just talked over him, filmed him , photographed him, treated him like an object etc which is pretty intimidating and intrusive. why do people always have to film everyone? cant they just hold a conversation anymore? you watch them at sports events they cant even concentrate for the whole 2 minutes of an anthem without filming and waving dementedly at the cameras

the bottom line is that tax and benefits should be sufficient that NO ONE ever has to live on the streets.....with bills rising massively as they are we wil see more of this...its cold indoors it must be freezing out there...when i see the homeless which is rare in mid wales, i stop for a chat if they seem friendly, buskers too, we have a good singsong but music is in my blood, im singing permanently, anyways God bless the homeless.

Wow! It was a generous act indeed! It is good to hear that amidst the current economic situation there are still good hearted people who help homeless people with their utmost generosity. They are also private institutions which collaborate to the homeless one to brought wi-fi in the community. By that they can earn for living, fantastic right? A test was publicized last year in Austin, Texas, called “Homeless Hotspots,” where homeless people were compensated to carry around mobile Wi-Fi hotspots. There was a ton of criticism made of exploitation and so on, but regardless, the test actually worked.
