really? I know you haven't specified what you're getting at with threads like this but I really think questions like this are extremely offensive to the gay community. I was really thinking about this yesterday - why should it matter? Or more importantly, why should a person have to even consider which the identify with?

I think the main problem with this is that 'top' and 'bottom' often come with a connotation of the masculine versus the feminine role. This really frustrates me because the whole point of being in a relationship with another guy is to be with another GUY, and therefore I think these stereotypical identifications are extremely shallow and unnecessary.
