What time would you book a table for?

It would depend on what meal I wanted - breakfast, lunch or dinner ..... :idc:

Depends what I was doing afterwards, but 7:30 for 8 seems civilised.

Think you're the Don or something do you Vicky

I wouldn't book a table for any earlier than 8, never eat before then and it's good to have time to go somewhere for a drink first

Ammi

7.45 pm is the ideal time.

...7.47pm is better..I find that you're just not quite ready to eat at 7.45pm...

Drew.
21-03-2013, 04:32 AM
the later the better for you Ammi, we don't want you strolling the streets drunk mid day now do we

Ammi
21-03-2013, 04:32 AM
..on the other hand, if you book the table for 7.43pm, then it's kind of nice having those few minutes just chatting and relaxing first...

Ammi
21-03-2013, 04:36 AM
..Drew, you weren't supposed to post there, you kind of ruined my flow...

..(..I don't drink alcohol except for maybe once or twice a year..usually when I'm on holiday..and yeah, I probably do make a fool of myself when I do..)..you got me there Drew....

Drew.

.. two drinks is the maximum I have and that normally turns me completely fuzzy for a while..I don't like the feeling of not being in control of my brain..but yeah, I guess my family do kind of think it's funny/strange when I do have those few drinks...

Shaun

usually 7 is ideal for me... talk for a while whilst looking at the menu, get drinks in, and then stretch the dining (and drinks) over about an hour and a half... to be done for 9 :pipe: (and go somewhere else)

7-7:30ish, unless we're taking the kids, then it's like 5:30, home by 6:15. :joker:

..LOL..yeah, I think I've been there a few times as well SA...I remember especially with my oldest son when he was very young and used to sit in the high chair thing in restaurants...it was very embarrassing because he always escaped from anything you put him in and it was an endless cycle of keep putting him back in and him running around the restaurant chatting to everyone...when they obviously didn't want to chat, but wanted to eat their dinner instead....

:joker: but exactly. "I'm sorry, sir, the boy is just curious, please have a pleasant evening and enjoy your meal." http://i395.photobucket.com/albums/pp32/sharkattack_torrential/smilies/sHa_thankyouvery.gif <scurries back to table to talk with the boy>

It's been godawful where we live now because we don't know anyone and have no family here, so the kids have to come out every time. http://i395.photobucket.com/albums/pp32/sharkattack_torrential/smilies/slap-1.gif

..aww, that's a shame because you need some time together as well..you could look out for young people putting posters up etc offering baby-sitting and maybe go by recommendations of other people who have used them..?...

it depends on the ocasion or were your going to eat, pubs or bigger food chains like harvester its just turn up and have a drink while a table becomes available.
i like to get in and out, cant see the point in taking 20 minutes between each mouthful of food.

It's alright, Ammi, we'll just wait. The daughter is a year or two away from becoming a competent sitter herself. Don't want to test the waters of strangers just yet. Good thought though! :)

I really only go to restaurants for dinner anyway, so it would be around 8pm that I would want the booking for.
Never found any need to book for things like lunch.

Ugh I hate you people who just turn up.. especially if we're actually very busy

Marc
21-03-2013, 04:04 PM
The reason I ask is because I hate when people turn up/book at our restaurant for 8:30/9.. I mean whats the point in that.. I want to leave and get home by 11. You assholes who stick around and make me stand around doing nothing but wait until you've finished deserve spit in your food :idc:

True ..... no need to book at the bottom end of the market - McD takes all-comers any time ..... :pipe:

Claridges, however, requires 3-6 months notice even for afternoon tea reservations ..... :idc:

Wayyyy too early. How can you go about the night having eaten at 5pm? I come home around that time and eat a little snack before eating dinner around 8pm/9pm. Have been my whole life

On weekends we have lunch at 3/4pm
