I think in those days you had to 'play the game' more. Being a hellraiser didn't seem to fit well with them. I agree he definitely deserved one though.

I don't think Brad Pitt deserves one tbh.

He's not a bad actor but he's not Oscar worthy either.

The same goes for Will Smith and Tom Cruise who play themselves in everything.

Yeah, that's what I meant.

He's good at what he does and makes some good popcorn flicks but it's not really awards worthy.

Just looked up on google and Gary Oldman is listed. He has the talent, he just needs that film that will get him the win.

It's all about the part they play too. Johnny Depp's a great actor but he'll never get Oscar nods for films like The Tourist and Alice in Wonderland.

but no os car for albert finney is unbelievable? how the hell hasnt he won an oscar, the mans a pure genius? underlines how much tougher the competition was back then and the standards way higher imho

what about the stunning maureen ohara....shes 90 years old now, been in loads of classics, mostly famously in 5 of john fords classics like the quiet man, how green is my valley, rio grande, etc also hunchback of notre dame, our man in havana, the parent trap, mclintock, big jake, but never won an oscar....strong willed, smart, elegant, stunning presence and imho possibly the most beautiful actress of them all....very outspoken and honest in real life, which is no doubt why she got on so well with john ford and the duke John wayne, a true legend
