Britain’s Got Talent 2013 hosts Ant and Dec have revealed that this year’s show is once again full of singers.
It was previously report that BGT boss Simon Cowell was unhappy with the amount of singers auditioning.
“Cowell took the producers to one side and warned them that they are not making another singing show like The X Factor,” a source told The Sun newspaper earlier this year. “Britain’s Got Talent is all about variety so he demanded a lot more magicians, dancers and comics to spice things up.
“Cowell is under serious pressure to get this right after The X Factor’s disastrous ratings.”
Ant and Dec admitted that musical performers were again dominating the line up of the live shows, due to air in June.
Ant explained: “We’ve had loads of singer songwriters with guitars – more than in any other series.
“Ed Sheeran and James Arthur have a lot to answer for.”
Speaking to the Daily Star Sunday, he questioned: “I don’t know why they don’t go for X Factor instead but a few of them are through to the live shows.”
But while there’s singers aplenty, there’s few animal acts, despite Ashleigh and Pudsey’s win last year.
“You tend to get a lot of acts similar to the previous winner. But we haven’t had many dancing dogs,” Ant told the newspaper this week. “I think anyone with a dog saw Pudsey and thought they had no chance.
“I think we’ve got a really good bunch of semi-finalists though.”
