Media coverage is the worst thing about this country, double standards everywhere

Not been one word about this on the news, too busy droning on and trying to whip up a frenzy about the "horror" in Boston. Of course what happened in Boston is shocking and newsworthy and terrible for anyone directly involved, but no more so than this even if it was accidental.

must have, I don't know. Saw the article posted on another forum as well. Don't think people bother to actually read the date it was written

It is a bit misleading though because todays date is on the top of the link in bold

And Afghan news would be more focused on the 30 people than it would be about Boston. Boston is "home turf" for many people in the Western world, so of course people are going to be shocked. I'm not playing any deaths down here though, both events are horrific, it's just a bomb in your own "street" is going to make more noise than one in the next town over.

Fair enough, anyway I'm pretty sure it might have got a mention if it hadn't happened in 2002.

Alex how is the title misleading? A US bomb did kill 30 people?

if you post in the middle of a terrorist attack people think you are talking about now. The thread title is making it sound like the US was retaliating for what happened in Boston, not something that happened during a WAR in 2002. (a war that the Afghans started i might add)

Maybe i should post a thread called "Muslims kill 3000 Americans". That would be a misleading thread title though, wouldn't it? because people would think it's something new.

lmfao maybe read an article properly before you try and complain about how many double standards there are in the news.

Why on earth would you post an article from over ten years ago under the pretense it happened recently? Weird.

It was posted on Facebook like 3 times yesterday, and shared it without them or I realising it was such an old article, my bad.

so bored of reading arseholes complain about how bombings in Iraq and Afghanistan don't make the news and grab attention. Newsflash: they do make the news. All the time. People aren't going to give every single one a fresh sense of shock and horror. Generally speaking, Boston marathons don't get bombed. Hence obvious media storm.

It's really ****ing tedious, and it's quite hypocritical. I never see anyone talking about middle-East bombings until the ones in the West go off.
