The inheritance of US heiress Paris Hilton looks set to shrink dramatically after her grandfather announced plans to give most of his fortune to charity.

Hotel magnate Barron Hilton, 80, will donate 97% of his $2.3bn (£1.2bn; 1.6bn euros) fortune to the Conrad N Hilton Foundation, set up by his father.

The funds come from the $20bn sale of Hilton Hotels to The Blackstone Group.

Reports have said that Mr Hilton is embarrassed by the behaviour of his granddaughter.

Ms Hilton, known for her party lifestyle, spent three weeks in jail earlier this year for violating probation in a drink driving case.

Mr Hilton will give $1.2bn immediately to a charitable trust that will eventually benefit the foundation.

The rest of the money will follow after his death.

The foundation supports projects that provide clean water in Africa, education for blind children and housing for the mentally ill.

Hahahahaha, tough tits, Paris.

That leaves just 30 million pounds to be divided between relatives.

'Just' haha, that's still mind blowing! If she was sensible (i.e. not very bloody likely) she'd easily live a life of luxury off a share of that money, but she's evidently not capable. It's terrible what being born with a silver spoon in your mouth can do to a person's grasp on reality. She's never had to work for anything or go without anything, as much as I detest her and what she stands for, she should be pitied or at least understood slightly better - it's not her fault she's clueless, she's never known anything else.

Not everyone born with a silver spoon in their mouth turns out that way. :nono:

I agree, tbh I blame her parents for not trying to install some sense of reality into her

This. She's a good business woman and she's not as bad as Katie Price or how Britney used to be

tbf to Katie Price atleast she's self made, Paris was born on a platform to launch her herself off

That's true Niamh but Paris has worked really hard, almost as if she didn't want to make it look like she had a platform.

I won't pretend to know much about her business but I guess it's alot easier to work hard at your own brand when you have all the funding and advertising you need

She did create some of her exposure by modelling, releasing music and having her infamous BFF show, all them things she took upon herself to do. You're right about the advertising/funding though

Well, maybe it'll be a good thing her grandad is doing for her then, I think when you really earn your own money you feel better about yourself

She doesn't really need his money right now, she can probably make enough on her own at the moment. Will be interesting though, what will be doing in 10 or 15 years? Hopefully she has some plans to invest and save the money she is making now

You dont think she has a trust fund set up by her grandfather when she was born ?? I would be surprised if she didnt have a steady long term income coming to her together with her own earnings. All in All she probably has enough now to live very comfortably regardless of any further future inheritence....!!!

Paris has her own money anyway. What a lovely thing to do for the grandfather to give most of the inheritance money away to charity. 30 million is still a lot though to leave to other relatives.

The more I think about this the more I feel the relatives will stop at nothing to keep hold of this man's estate. They will not be happy with his plans to give away "their" inheritence to charity.

Don't be surprised if a campaign to show him as mentally "unstable" or not of sound mind is started. Pay off a few doctors and cosy up to a few judges should be enough to contest the will in court and keep hold of this vast sum of money...!!!

Some lawyers are set for a bonanza...!!!
