Or give the American format another go?

I don't think there's harm in trying for one series and seeing how it goes. US changed theirs because the initial model didn't work for them. But it's nice to have comparisons, maybe see how ratings do with a more UK style.

I wanted the UK format this year. It is absolutely my guilty pleasure to watch each and every bit of air time the exists surrounding BBUK, and BBUS I generally just tolerate.

But sadly, minds like mine do not call the shots on these things

That being said, I have enjoyed BBCan season 1 far more than any season of BBUS I have ever watched.

No this format is good and it has worked and got a lot of viewers, they should stick with it.

Yeh the vote to save is potentially much better than the old evict, just need a good cast. Oh and cut the showmances. And of course keep live stream.

I think it would be interesting, but they would have to cast different types of people. There really havn't been very many fights this year on BBCAN, and really if you don't have the plotting and scheming anymore, the only entertaining thing would be fights. It's the fights that make BBUK work.

SO i think as long as they cast enuf volatile people that would create plenty of conflict then it could be good.

Many of this cast might have been ok in the other format. Not Emmitt, but then I find his type very boring in the strategic format anyway, he's there as he wins competitions and for a showmance and not much else. The trouble with BB being about strategy is that some are always there with no interest in playing that kind of game anyway, and we saw that in this season.

I've always wanted to see a format where the nomination procedural is the US but it's a vote to evict like the UK version was

That's not a bad idea tbh. Out of curiosity, how do you think the evictions would've gone this season if Canada had been voting to evict one of the nominees?

My prediction (predicted evictee in bold):
Week 1: Emmett vs Kat
Week 2: Danielle vs Aneal
Week 3: Aneal vs AJ
Week 4: Liza vs Tom
Week 4.5: Liza vs Suzette
Week 5: Suzette vs AJ
Week 5.5: Andrew vs AJ
Week 6: Gary vs Topaz
Week 7: Topaz vs Alec
Week 7.5: Topaz vs Talla
Week 8: Peter vs Talla

Apparently Brazil has something similar, with an HoH who decides one nominee, then just a regular round of house nominations, and a public vote. Not sure if they have a veto though. There was also a French speaking Canadian BB that had U.S. rules, but the final had 5 houseguests and was decided by public vote.

The US format is so much better than the UK

Leagues ahead, UK always fiddle with the format.

It can get too predictable in the US version, so easier for the HGs. Less of a psychological test, and so less Big Brother. Also Emmitt is the ultimate proof against those who say that the more interesting HGs stay in the US format.

Emmett wouldn't leave in the UK format either though.. the girls would be feigning over him.

They do have a Veto of sorts - it's called the Angel and is basically immunity rather than vetoing a nomination. I think they also have something where you can make people immune from being immune too.

Canada was always going to have the US format and rightly so. I'd have loved to have seen the UK adopt the Brazilian format over the last few years - genuinely do think the UK was more than willing to adopt the HoH format after they tested the waters in BB9. One of the biggest mistakes they made IMO was in the next Celeb BB they made a big deal out of HoH in the first week with Terry Christian and it set up the series nicely with housemates speculating on the next HoH and viewers accepting it as a decent part of the format, but then they just stopped doing it.

There are numerous ways it can be combined with a public vote. It can be as Brazil did it with a HoH nomination, a house nomination and a public eviction vote, or even as simple as the UK did it with essentially the HoH having nothing more than immunity. Another way is have the HoH nominate three people, the public save one and the HMs then vote to evict on the final two (which for double evictions can see the public evict one and HMs vote to evict another one).

One thing I think would be a good idea to adopt in the US or Canadian version is to keep their format essentially the same with the houseguests voting, but add a twist to the Veto so that if the Veto is used the public chooses the replacement. That would take a lot of the predictability out of the game and it would be all the better for it.

For the UK show:

Another way is have the HoH nominate three people, the public save one and the HMs then vote to evict on the final two (which for double evictions can see the public evict one and HMs vote to evict another one).

omfg this would be amazing  it'd be the best compromise actually <3

YES. YES. YES. YES. YES.

150% - I'm worried I'm gonna find BB14 boring now, because I'm use to BB Canada.

I really wish they would bring back the 'Severe Consequences' type Big Brother for the UK show. They've become infuriatingly lax when it comes to rule breaks and punishments (or lack thereof!).
The first time someone is caught talking about noms or trying to influence others to nominate a certain way the whole house should be called to the living area and shown the video footage on the screen (or played the audio if they don't have the video footage) and they should then be instantly put up for eviction!!! You can guarantee everyone would be much less likely to do it again.
I remember back in the earlier days of BB UK they even had mic's set up in the bedroom that could hear people talking under their quilts after lights out and people were caught out that way. That's the way it should be!
In the last few UK BB series' in particular it was blatantly obvious that certain cliques were repeatedly nominating identically having clearly discussed (even openly using ridiculously obvious 'code' names for people they were targeting) and very little, if anything, was done about it.
Connor and his disgusting little gang of idiots got away with this type of behaviour week after week. He should have been removed from the house for some of his actions anyway and if he'd acted the same way in earlier C4 era BB series he definitely would have been removed. Others were removed for much less!

If C5 just carry on with BB as they have been then it just won't be worth watching any more sadly! :nono:

Random inconsistent punishments isn't the way to handle it. Stick to strikes - and enforce them. A warning for a minor offence, a strike for a major offence or repeated minor offences (essentially it allows BB to warn HMs before their first and their final strike). Three strikes and you're out - no exceptions.

They only used it in BB3 then stupidly dropped it but it worked so well at keeping the HMs in line. Usually most weren't too concerned about their first, but once they got their second they were bricking it about getting a third.

I would love if both Aus and UK changed to the US format.
