Anyone been watching this?

Started a couple of weeks ago (up to episode 3 now) on NBC on Thursdays I think (it's after Parks and Rec). I don't think I need to explain what it's about  it stars Mads Mikkelsen (Casino Royale, The Hunt) as Lecter, Hugh Dancy as a criminal profiler and Laurence Fishburne (Matrix obvs) as their boss.

I caught the last episode and it was really good :amazed: have been told the other two were pretty creepy and dark.

Just downloaded all the episodes so far to watch this week at some point. It can't be any worse than The Following.

It looks like they are planning quite far in advance as well, the series developer has already decided Season 4 will be an adaptation of Red Dragon according to Wikipedia. :amazed:

I have been looking forward to this. It starts on Sky living a week on Tuesday.

I am a great fan of the films and have read a few of the books of Thomas Harris. Silence of the lambs remains the best film though. I'm just worried it won't live up to my expectations.

I adore The Silence Of The Lambs, probably my favourite film, bar one or two. So my expectations are high. :D

Watched the first 2 episodes. Its brilliant so far, love the cast and Mads Mikkelsen is perfectly creepy

Hugh Dancy is so dreamy  fell in love with him when he was in The Big C.

Laurence Fishburne is pretty awesome too. One thing that confuses me is how their psychiatrist dude is just having everyone over for dinner though

I liked Anna Chlumsky (Veep, My Girl)'s cameo too.

I find it weird that (until the series ended) this is broadcast right after Parks & Recreation... huge change of mood between those two shows

Excellent though... marvellous acting, and just scary enough for me not to want to turn off in squeamishness.

Caught up with this show. Its gory, its creepy, its twisted, its good. Its a bit too much like Criminal Minds at times but I hope they iron out those issues in the 2nd series.

Will and Hannibal are much more alike than Will knows. Hannibal sees it but Will is a bit too wrapped up in his 'powers'. Its strange that Will and Lector are friends; in the original novel they didn't meet till Will realised Lector was the Chesaspeake Ripper.

But Will is not a killer. :suspect:He's close though. Dangerously close. His ability to empathise is probably even more disturbing than the killers he catches.

I agree their personalities are similar and that's why their friendship is so fascinating to watch. Will is always walking a fine line between good and evil.

The creators of the NBC thriller "Hannibal" are probably on the same page as a lot of people in wanting to see David Bowie on television every week. Indiewire reports that executive producer Bryan Fuller has reached out to Bowie to play the role of Hannibal's uncle, Count Robert Lecter, in the upcoming season (which is set to air next year).

Count Robert Lecter was ultimately killed off in the books on which "Hannibal" is based, but Fuller told E! that, "since our timeline is a little more present, there's a little bit of J.J. Abrams-style alternate universe storytelling where he could be alive."

Production for the new season begins in August, but so far there's no word from Bowie on whether or not he'll take the role. If he doesn't, he'll leave some large, bizarre shoes for another actor to fill.

Bowie has had a number of acting roles throughout his career, including The Man Who Fell to Earth, Basquiat, The Hunger, Labyrinth, The Last Temptation of Christ, and The Prestige.

.......is it a good series, I'm going to have to try to catch up with it, I don't know what the storyline is..is this before he started eating people..?...

...hmmm, I'm a bit nervous, I don't think Bowie is the best of actors, he's ok but a bit wooden sometimes...maybe he's got much better with age, I hope so...I wouldn't want him to do it unless he's amazing....

Shaun

no no, he's definitely eating people  it's a really good series... creepy as hell, and a little grisly, but not like... a Saw movie, pointless gore.

And I agree... he was really good in The Prestige though

Same!
Although I thought Season 2 of Bates was a little disappointing.

In terms of Hannibal:
(DON'T READ IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN FINALE)
I think i'm most upset about Abigail. To bring her back and then the way he killed her in front of Will. :bawling:

Think Abi and Alana are done for.
We pretty much saw Abi die and I think Alana's character has run its course.
Jack could potentially survive and I pray to God that Will survives.
Although right now, I think the most likely outcome is that all are dead and the show will relocate with Hannibal.

Yeah, that's gotta be the end of Abi. :(

I dunno if they wouldn't axe Will. I know he's in Red Dragon, but so far they've already made a few changes to the books. Really they're all expendable but Hannibal, so i'm not gonna get my hopes up.

Oh my god this show:worship: I looked for a thread every Saturday morning after I'd watch it, but clearly I didn't look hard enough. That finale was amazing.

I know hannibal wiping his face in the rain when he was walking out of the house, was supposed to represent his disappointment at losing his 'family' but I don't know I kind of wish that was made a little more evident, like at least a tear. As weird as it sounds, after he tried to kill everybody, was the perfect time to make us empathize with him. I loved that all of this seasons loose ends were tied up, but they replaced those with new questions.

*heavy booing*

Hannibal’s third season will be its last on NBC. Multiple sources are reporting that the network has declined to order a fourth season of Bryan Fuller’s Hannibal Lecter adaptation, which managed to defy low ratings and the laws of standards and practices until this afternoon.

In a statement relayed by The New York Times’ Dave Itzkoff, Bryan Fuller is incredibly gracious toward his soon-to-be-former network overlords—though Hannibal’s devoted fanbase is surely scouring its mental cookbooks, seeking the most decadent preparation for peacock.

“A hungry cannibal can always dine again” being code for “It’s 2015, and no TV show gets canceled anymore.” Hannibal made it to three seasons on NBC because the network didn’t have to pay very much money for it, a reduced price tag (thanks to international sales and a VOD deal) that could look tempting to platforms yearning for original content. That said, even the least expensive network programming can’t last forever on the Nielsen numbers Hannibal has pulled this season, which reached a series-low .5 18-49 rating last week.
