Emeli Sande has beaten The Beatles’ chart record of spending the most consecutive weeks in the UK’s Official Albums Chart Top 10 of any début album.

The biggest selling album of 2012, ‘Our Version of Events’ , was released last year and has not dropped out of the top 10 for 63 weeks. The record had been held by The Beatles, who released their début album ‘Please Please Me’ nearly 50 years ago.

Sande was one of the biggest music stars of 2012, performing at the London 2012 Olympic Games which propelled her into global fame.

Congrats to her, a lot of the hate she gets is unnecessary, she's just overexposed

I just don't get her popularity. She's a shoddy version of Leona Lewis with about half the personality and half the skill.

The Beatles are far from my favorite group, but they was more exciting imo, and they contributed a lot to Music, where as I don't know if Emeli Sande will.

Her songs aren't that bad, but I dont get why so many people would buy the album? I presume the other songs are similar to the singles, which are all quite sad and put you in a down mood, so why anyone would sit and listen to this idk I just find it odd :/ but whataver fair play to her she obviously worked hard, and anyone who had to feature on a Chipmunk single to be noticed deserves all the money they can get.

Wouldn't even know she existed if it wasn't for the random TiBB thread.

Good for her. Hating her is too boring now. I bet if she wasn't popular there would be people saying she deserves recognition. It's how life works :joker:

i don't hate her (idk where you got that impression), i just find her omnipresence boring and her music dull (with the exception of 'Heaven' which is excellent)

Good achievement. Not personally a fan but if a Beatles record is broken I'd prefer it to be by someone who can sing, as she can.
