I guess without knowing all of the facts it's hard to speculate too much on it, it does seem to be a long time in coming if it happened back in 1967. I wonder though, that since all of these allegations about TV stars are coming out all of a sudden, is it that the Police are revisiting claims that were made about these people a longtime ago that may not have been dealt with properly at the time?

In fact the Police are already on their way, as that girl was actually 14 or 15 and now in her 60's she has now suddenly remembered that most traumatic of experiences.

She now needs medical and professional help to come to terms with the pain and trauma of that experience. and of course the perpertrator must but brought to justice

No I think it is strange too, you always have adulation of celebrities and I would guess it is something that can be taken advantage of.
It is said,that in Bill Roach's case, it is a case of 2 rapes against the same individual,now call me a cynic but I do feel the question needs to be asked, how twice with the same person and nothing said until now.

If I had been a girl or boy in the 60s and someone raped me,I would have for sure made sure it wasn't going to be even possible for it to happen again,even if I was going to say nothing at all at the time,I would ensure I was never in that situation again where it could.

I just don't know, the 60s was an odd time it seems and access to celebrities a lot easier it seems too.

When the Jimmy Saville stuff came out the Police said they were launching investigations, I wonder have they, because of the Jimmy Saville revelations gone back over allegations made but not properly followed up regarding celebrities? Has anyone read Broken by Shy Keenan. Tough read but she didn't get her step dad convicted until he was in his 80's and she was in her late 30's. When she was young nobody believed her, teachers, social workers, care homes all passed the buck. Can't be easy to follow something like this through years later, and it would take a very sick person in my view to make a complaint after so many years have passed without some thing to back it up. It would be much easier to jump on the Jimmy Saville bandwagon if you weren't being truthful surely?

Indeed, the only reason the guy was still in the show was because he's been there since the start, he was untouchable until now.

Phillip Lowrie (Dennis Tanner) is the much better actor out of the two first episode cast left.

Yeah, that's basicially been all Ken has had to do the past 10 years lol, I think Deirdre is a better character on her own. Elsie was great :p I'm glad they finally explained what happened to her when Dennis returned :p

Coronation Street actor William Roache has appeared in court facing historical sexual offences against five girls.

Mr Roache, 81, was arrested at his home in Wilmslow, Cheshire, in May and was charged with two counts of rape of a girl aged 15 in Haslingden in 1967.

The actor, who plays Ken Barlow, last week faced new charges of five indecent assaults involving four girls aged from 12 to 16. He denies all the charges.

At Preston Crown Court he was bailed to appear again on 2 September.

A provisional trial date was set for 13 January
