NO. If Big Brother as a GAME is meant to have the winner chosen by the majority of the jury, then no, obviously she did not win, because the majority of the Jury wanted Gary to win.
Jillian was not chosen as the winner by the majority of the jury therefore she did not win the game of Big Brother.
She won the Prizes, but she did not win the GAME of Big Brother.

x2, maybe it would be fair if jillian kept the prize but gary WON THE TITLE.

Obviously not. It's Topaz's intention that counts, not her mistake.

thats why they should pick the keys ahead of time. its probably nerve racking voting infront of the live crowd

It has nothing to do with Topaz being nervous. She was clearly so focused on getting one last zing in at Jillian that she subconsciously grabbed her key. Like, it's nothing to do with nerves or black voter suppression (seriously, what the **** @ this suggestion), just with Topaz being an idiot.
I don't agree with topaz being able to change her vote but I think Gary was always gonna win. Even against Emmett. (All of Jill's votes would've gone to Emmett minus Andrew's)
So Jillian winning, despite being the most unlikely to win in the final 3 was a bit weird

Nah. Gary won. Topaz ********** up big time.
If I "won" like that no way I would've kept the title. Would've handed it over to Gary.

That would be the honorable thing to do.

Jillian won. Topaz failed to grasp the simplest of rules and Big Brother remained consistent in enforcing them throughout the series.
Im sorry i dont get this Topaz voted for Jillian to win. She locked her key in the box just like everyone else. To have changed anything would have devalued the other votes. The intention is invalid as only Topaz knows what her intention was. The point of the vote is to objectify a jury memebers views. Jillian won 150% fair and square ;) . I can guarantee in a scenerio that Emmett accidentally voted for Gary costing Jillian the win this is what the majority of people would be saying infact they would be celebrating his stupidity but no in this case its all evil Villians fault. And before anyone says anything I didtn even like Jillian so im not biased just fair.

i understand what you are saying mkbb, but if the entire game is based on winning over people's votes, the idea that a simple mistake like that can screw up 3 months worth of work, is pretty ridiculous.
The point of the game is to win votes, but if the voting system is not clear and people don't even understand how to vote, it basically makes all of that work to win people's votes pointless.
Winning loses all meaning if you can win based on a simple mistake like this.
This degrades the game as a whole.

It's no different though to getting to the final three then not following a simple rule in the HoH comp - keep hold of your key. They don't restart the comp because someone let go without thinking about it - and that's happened a few times, most notably in BB All Stars which was supposed to be the best of the best but the seasons flagship endurance comp was over by the end of the live show just minutes after it started.

but the 2 keys looked almost identical and Topaz didn't have her glasses on. Why would they make it so difficult?
I agree with the person above who said that they should have to write their votes on a piece of paper, then there would be no confusion.

^ you don't need HoHs to win Big Brother, but you do need jury votes to win; thats not really a fair comparison.

Simple answer: no.

Simply yes, Gary shouldn't have been sitting beside her in the first place. Just a case of the universe correcting itself, or karma, or what ever you want to call it.

So you think Jillian would have still won if she was sitting next to Emmett?

Yes she won. I'm pleased she did too. Gary is so annoying and the usual bitter jury is just another drawback of the American format.

The keys clearly said GARY and JILLIAN. Topaz was so concerned with trying to get a clever zing at Jillian that she picked up her key without knowing. That has nothing to do with the voting system not being clear or Topaz not understanding how to vote. She ****ed up and if anything, SHE degraded the game as a whole, not the producers.

I agree with the person above who said that they should have to write their votes on a piece of paper, then there would be no confusion.
They clearly say GARY and JILLIAN it's not their job to account for whether or not Topaz's contacts are in or whether or not she's paying attention to which key she's grabbing. It's only her fault, the producers handled it fine.

Uh bitter juries are completely fair and part of the game that you have to anticipate. They're kind of essential.

Topaz knew she had to make a vote that night and it was her responsibility to have her glasses if she needed them - though the size of the writing on the keys suggests she wouldn't. It's hard to see in video but I've seen a couple of screenshots now which shows they're as clear as anything.

Yes. Yes. Yes.
Topaz was an absolute dick from Day 1 anyway - so watching her royally mess up the whole thing at the end was so hilarious for me.
Plus, I liked Gary at the very start of the show, but since he got his second chance (which he shouldn't of even been offered) - he just sat around crying his balls off about how he's a rolemodel for little homosexual Canadian boys, and that he got bullied in school.
Typical X Factor style sobstory - only done inside a Big Brother House. The guy is a joke.
Emmett or Jillian, the only two people who really deserved to win. So I'm over the moon Jillian did.

Emmitt was loving it. Also, you can tell by how Arisa was reading the keys and her facial expressions that she already knew who voted for who and who was going to win. After reading Topaz's vote she turns back in anticipation.

I think Jillian definitely deserved the win over Gary. Gary just didn't do enough to deserve to win and the fact that he was in there on a second life says it all.
The only reason he would have won if Topaz hadn't fuc*ed it up was because mean-spirited, bitter people were voting for him purely because he wasn't Jillian!
But luckily the forces of Karma took over to save the day and it couldn't have happened in a better way. The person who should have won anyway (out of that particular final two) won and the spiteful assholes ended up looking even more stupid than they'd already made themselves look! :joker:

Jillian deserved to win period. The thing is, Gary wasn't meant to still be in the game anyway and Jillian would have lost to all the others so this mistake made justice served.
And I like Topaz and Gary.

No big conspiracy there - it was pretty clear throughout the show where the votes were going and I'm sure Arisa was as shocked by Topaz's vote as Topaz was.

Given Gary essentially got a three week pass, a huge amount of jury information and four of the jury members made an alliance to make sure they controlled the outcome against Jillian (they would've voted Talla or Gary over Emmett just to make Jillian unhappy :|) I believe Jillian is the true winner, regardless of how badly she played and even regardless of Topaz's key.

Agreed.
Gary didn't do much work at all. He would have won purely because tossers who TRIED to play the game and failed big time (cause they didn't win comps and were too stupid to take out the big threats) were so bitter and didn't want Jillian to win.
Jillian lied, but so did the others. They just didn't win anything to keep themselves in the game and they didn't bother to try to play to get her out. It's their own fault. I'm really glad Topaz ****ed up. Gary didn't deserve to win.

So I just got round to watching (most of) the finale. Gary really won. Topaz clearly showed her disdain for Jillian, even wanting Jillian to be evicted at the final 3. Of course she wouldn't have voted for her. They should have let her revote.
I guess the asterisk will be permanent.

It would've been an even bigger controversy (and potential lawsuit) if they let Topaz revote. Nothing else could've been done.

egggsactly. Jillian is the Lance Armstrong of BB winners.
She won, but she didn't really win.
It's like watching olympic speed skating, and all of the front runners trip and fall at the last turn, and the guy at the back skates across the finish line. Everyone knows he didn't deserve it. He's not the best speed skater in the world, he just got lucky.

Those speed skaters win by the rules, just as Jillian did. I think even Topaz realises her mistake resulted in a worthier winner from her interview on the reunion show.
