The Sims 4 web domain appears to have been registered by EA, with the game's unveiling expected on Monday (May 6).

The studio is holding a conference call tomorrow and has promised to make a major announcement related to the world-creation franchise, according to a NeoGAF forum post.

The new web domain, thesims4.com, is already active and links back to the official Sims site.

EA will continue to support The Sims 3 this year, with the Island Paradise, Dragon Valley and Movie Stuff expansion packs scheduled for release in the coming months.

Released in 2009, The Sims 3 and its add-ons continue to chart highly in the weekly PC chart.

It has been speculated that The Sims 4 could require an always-online connection like the latest Sim City sequel.

Sims 2 had alot of ORIGINAL expansions and stuff packs - that TS1 never had, so that's why that game was so awesome. It was different and just brilliant.

The Sims 3 was lazy, they thought by making the characters look like little play-dough figures and having it set in a small town that requires a REALLY High Tech computer to even look as good as it does in the trailers, would get them alot of sales.

It failed. The Sims 3 was ridiculously ****e. And it looked so good too back in 2009 before it actually came out.

Plenty of reasons why Sims Online failed back in the day, they ran before they could walk IMO - where as now, most games ESPECIALLY computer games, feature heavily on multiplayer. So the time is perfect for them to do it.

Maybe I'm just old and stubborn, but I hate when they next gen Sims. Sims 2 players lost all their extra content when the servers were wiped if they didn't hear about it in time, years of investment lost with a "sorry, too bad". I predict the same will happen with Sims 3 content shortly after 4 launches. Problem is, the base game is always crap compared to the previous and its expansions. It takes years for them to catch up to the features lost from the previous gen, and when they finally start to get close, they switch to the next gen instead.

I really wish they'd just give the game a year to play with all the extras intact.

I hate how TS4 looks from what we've been shown, especially the UI and the 2D looking world. And there will be no CASt and no Body Shop (they just want to sell their ****ty, buggy store content). I like TS3 well enough but the constant patching and then having to fix whatever EAxis last broke with 3rd party mods ruined it so I usually just stick to TS2. TS4 might be the first Sims game I don't bother with at all. Certainly won't pay $70 for that hot mess, but if they rework things a bit I might consider picking it up on sale sometime down the line.

I use to leave them on a mountain and they would be taken away by social service but then I found out about a cheat code where you can just right click on any sim and delete them from life.

How come? Photo realism would be interesting in a sim game, would probably make it less believable though as the games are quite cartoony in the way things happen.

That's the thing with Sims though, the base game is so basic when you have all of the expansion packs. When you look back on The Sims 3 it barely had anything exciting to it, the novelty came from the fact it was new.

If a base game had everything from seasons to university, people would get bored with it fast. Especially because it restricts ideas for expansion packs.

EA just re-release the same expansions and the same basic games with nothing more than a mere graphics upgrade because they know it's a safe bet that'll be an easy cash cow for them.

I'm not bothered about it at all. It's not like I have to pay £500 (or whatever the sum is) for every single game in the franchise at once. EA spaces it out quite well because they know that people can get bored of the game.

And that's not relevant to me as such because I can't stand custom content. I can understand why people would be annoyed at that, but the game is good enough without additional custom content. I'm so ****ing done with this game, it's so hard keeping up with the whiney ass sims needs, they're constantly on the brink of starvation, about to piss themselves or pass out from exhaustion, you literally don't have time to do anything else in the game because it's such a struggle just to make the sim happy + they hardly ever listen to anything you tell them to do and just go off and do their own thing or if you're having a conversation some random sim will butt in and disrupt everything. It's by far a more annoying experience than a fun one. I'm officially going back to the holy gospel sims 2.

I'm so ****ing done with this game, it's so hard keeping up with the whiney ass sims needs, they're constantly on the brink of starvation, about to piss themselves or pass out from exhaustion, you literally don't have time to do anything else in the game because it's such a struggle just to make the sim happy + they hardly ever listen to anything you tell them to do and just go off and do their own thing or if you're having a conversation some random sim will butt in and disrupt everything. It's by far a more annoying experience than a fun one. I'm officially going back to the holy gospel sims 2.

I just got the game, I like it better than 3.

The Sims are better looking than in 3 but not as well as 2. I think I'll buy Go to Work and a couple stuff packs and then go to town on a Big Brother house later on.

Kinda don't appreciate buying a code to download stuff at the stores though.

This is soooo much better than Sims 3, creating a sim is great :flutter: I'm buying get to work later and some stuff packs. I think this might be my favourite sims game, I'm glad maxis helped with this, they would have made sims 3 better.

I’ve always been a massive Sims fan but never followed the transition from 3 to 4 and just stuck to playing 2 or 3 in my spare time, especially since 4 initially started with a lot of features reduced that were included in 3.

Is it worth getting 4 or am I right I’m sticking to 2/3?

I have the Sims 2 Ultimate Collection which EA gave out for free (you can still get it for free even tho it's not on the Origin site anymore - you just send a message on one of those FAQ Help Chat pages and ask for it and they give it to you if you ask nicely) so I usually play that when I go through my periods of playing the sims, it truly is timeless :clap1:

But this Get Famous expansion is partly the reason why I wanna give 4 a go as it looks really good. But I don't wanna buy the game if it's only good with a bunch of expensive expansions packs added on :worry:

I'm currently playing the base game, Hayden. Really enjoying it, but I've always liked Sims 4. The general consensus is that Sims 2/3 Is much better, and it will definitely be a step down after playing Sims 2/3 with all the expansion packs.

Personally, I think Sims 4 has an enjoyable, clean dynamic to it. The multi-tasking makes it far more realistic than any other game. The CAS is the best it's ever been and will be hard to surpass, honestly. I don't know how they could improve it for future editions. The only problem is that there are so many good expansion packs, but they cost a lot of money (hence why I haven't bought any, lmao). Oh, and the neighbourhoods could be a lot bigge, but the good thing about Sims 4 is that you can travel and move between Worlds very easily.

Also, thanks Luke for suggesting Seasons. idk why but atm I'm stuck between City Living and Get Famous.

I have Get Together, Get To Work, City Living and Pets expansion packs. I enjoy Get Together the best, probably followed by City Living.

Can't comment on Seasons or Get Famous though as I have neither.

I might get Sims 4 and the Get Famous pack before the Origin sale ends in January then. I've seen on the Origin store they're doing 75% off Sims 4 and 50% off expansion packs til the 11th. I like having physical copies but I suppose in the grand scheme of things it's better to save money this way (unless anyones had major problems with digital copies before?). My Sims 2 Ultimate Collection is a digital copy though so should be fine.

From doing a quick bit of research online, it seems the only real expansion packs worth getting are Get To Work and Get Famous?

Seeing as I can get the base game and an expansion pack for £25 in this Origin sale, which one would you recommended is better for me to start with? Would get both but don't want to fork out £40+ considering I might not even enjoy the game yet.

Famous sounds more exciting to me but I understand you can't play with your sim as an actor/actress if you don't have Get To Work? Which seems like a big chunk of the pack, no?

Get To Work is probably a more essential pack but Get Famous is more fun & you don't need to be in a good career to get famous either like I had one sim get famous just from playing guitar and performing comedy at a bar regularly. There's other ways too like becoming a vlogger or posting on social media a lot.

I've been playing The Sims 4 for a couple of months now, with all of the expasion packs, I love it, I had never played any of the Sims games before this one though. I am doing a 100 baby challenge, I have like 33 kids to one mother so far.
