Just got thinking, I loathed Conor, Arron, Ashleigh etc. But they did give me a reaction as a viewer eg Conor and epilator rape rant. Without which there would be less to watch. As much as I liked Luke A he offered little beyond his secret reveal and BMI-gate despite being fairly likeable. He needed the hatred from Becky and Caroline to provide a SL.

Are love to hate HMs important to generate interest? If everyone is nice we have Bb 4 (won by Cameron the Orkney virgin)

Sort of but you need the other characters much more importantly as they are the "opposition" and ones to root for, if it was just full of Conor's everyone would be turning off. The other characters are the priority.

Yes, imagine if the house was a bunch of nice people? how boring would that be

Yes, but just someone being an awful person doesn't make me "love to hate someone." I just plain hated Conor, Ashleigh, and Arron and wanted them to **** off and stop ruining the show.

They definitely are needed.

I hated Conor, but no doubt he was a big part of last years series, same with Aaron.

You need a blend like Reece says.
