View Full Version : Recommend Me Some Holiday Reads
I need to download about 6 books for going on holiday. Would you all please recommend some books suitable for reading in the sun... Nothing too hard going or depressing.
I read the Dragon Tattoo trilogy last year and want something equally as good this year.
Thanks :)

Have you read anything by Marian Keyes? Humourous chick lit I suppose you could call her books. Rachel's Holiday is the first one I believe, it's loosely based on her time in rehab she is an ex alcoholic.

Best thing about Kindle is the ability to download a sample of the book at least you don't end up buying something you won't read. On the other extreme I like the Karin Slaughter books. Crime Fiction.

Yes, I'd forgotten all about her actually. I've read a few of her books before and really enjoyed them.

How about game of thrones?
Lee may I suggest you just pick up a few books at the airport, best sellers.

No idea how 50 shades, (only bought the first one) became such a huge seller I gave up after Chapter 2, the dialogue is very feeble, maybe it hots up when it gets to the saucy bits but I honestly couldnt be bothered wading through it.

Stephen King's Under the Dome
I got this recently and haven't actually started it, but I've got a feeling it's gonna be good.

I started reading Under the Dome but I didn't commit to it. What I read was ok though.

I've got the first book but I'm not sure it's holiday reading.. A LOT of people to keep up with. No harm in trying though :)

Oh you have it already? go for it then, seriously, best books I've read in ages, since I finished the last one I can't get into any other books. There is more to follow but it isn't a chore cos they're so good

I read the first Hunger Games and couldn't be bothered with the others.
The story wasn't bad but the writing was abysmal. Could've been great in the hands of a better author.

'A Short History of Tractors in Ukrainian' by Marina Lewycka. I always recommend this, I thought it was a really excellent book... sad, funny, thought-provoking, uplifting...
