which hamster should I get? [UPDATE: I got 3 gerbils]

I'm gonna buy a couple of hamsters tomorrow but which ones do you think I should get?

1) roborovski hamster

I've already had some roborovski ones so was going to try a different one, but I still think they're the cutest ones..

I had a chinese hamster when i was younger and it was the most naturally nice natured little thing ever it was lovely and never once in its life did i have to worry about it nipping or biting whereas the syrian hamster (the most common one found in pet shops) i used to have was a little wanker that used to bite.

I had a Roborovski a few years back, he was quite fun but they are extremely fast and hard to handle. They aren't pets you can interact with that much since they can escape from you easily.

update: I went to the store today and brought 3 gerbils instead, they're so adorable. There was 5 so I would've gotten all 5 of them but one was white with red eyes which is bad apparently and the other was an ugly stone color.. (plus I only had £30 and they're £10 each.)

so in the end I brought a black one, a sandy one and a white/grey one :love: i'll post some pics soon once they've settled in.

Siberian hamsters are so cute.

personally i'd prefer a guinea pig to a hamster though. hamsters scare me because they are so small and fragile, im always afraid i'll hurt them when i hold them.

my gerbils are so cute, although they've completely eaten there tissue box bed so now they have nothing.. I gave them 2 toilet rolls and the cardboard sleeve from a ready meal curry packet and they ate them as well.. (well they dont eat it, they just tear it up)

ooh and there names are Luna, Solar and Star

Luna's the black one, Solar's the golden one and Star is the white/grey one, i'll have to take some pics when I buy them a new cage.
