TELLY’s The Apprentice hosts Alan Sugar and Donald Trump are locked in a row — over who is the richest.

In the clash between the “You’re Fired” stars, Lord Sugar branded Trump an “ego crazed liar.”

The spat was sparked when billionaire property tycoon Trump, who hosts the US version of the show, mocked the British business magnate’s wealth.

He tweeted: “Sugar is nowhere near being a billionaire — and I know, he works for me!”

Lord Sugar replied: “You ignorant ego crazed liar. You don’t have the money you say you have.

“You’ve been bust 4 times. Work for you. Bare face lie.”

The tweet was later deleted.

Sugar is worth £770million, Trump, £2billion. The 66-year-olds also clashed last year when Trump tweeted: “drop to your knees, Sugar, and say thank you, Mr Trump”.

Everyone knows Trump is not as rich as he claims but I think he's right about Sugar owing him a thank you.

I wouldn't mind a change from Sugar to someone that is actually credible and not an idiotAgree. Trump does give good reasons for his firing so I favour him slightly. Sugar has never had much cred and maybe we should get someone else. Maybe someone like Peter Jones.

Lord Sugar owes Trump nothing, he didn't create The Apprentice, Mark Burnett did and it's to him he owes (and openly credits) this gig. And while Trump is richer (though not by half as much as he thinks he is and unsuprisingly giving the size of the economy in which he operates in), Sugar's by far the better businessman. Sugar was bought up on a council estate and made his money from scratch, Trump was born to a fellow rich property tycoon and learned his trade working under his multi-millionaire, also successful father and his businesses are pretty much built on bank debt, having gone bust four times to Sugar's never (who he's been in business longer).

I'm aware of how the Apprentice started but thanks for the history lesson. :thumbs:

Two things. One. The American Apprentice started before the British and was a big success before the British. They even showed the first season of the USA Apprentice before Lord Sugar - back then just plain Sir Alan - had even been chosen.

Secondly. Trump coined the phrase 'You're Fired'. Surely LS owes him that much.
