The X Factor returns with an all-star panel

The nation’s most talked about entertainment show is back with a bang for 2013 with a new addition to the judging panel and brand new double auditions.

Rock royalty Sharon Osbourne makes a triumphant return to the show, joining Take That superstar Gary Barlow, US pop star Nicole Scherzinger and Svengali manager Louis Walsh in the search for the nation’s next big singing sensation.

Outspoken and unpredictable Sharon was one of the original X Factor judges from 2004-2007 and has more than 30 years’ experience in the music industry, managing some of the biggest bands in rock.

Award-winning broadcaster and presenter Dermot O’Leary will preside over the action once more offering support, encouragement and a shoulder to cry on to aspiring stars, as well as the important job of keeping the judges in check.

And in the first of an exciting range of new changes for the 10th series of The X Factor, hopefuls will - for the first time ever - have to tackle two sets of auditions. First, they will face the judges eyeball to eyeball in an intimate audition room. If they receive three or more yeses here they will then have to perform for the judges once more, this time in an arena, to prove they can also impress an audience before securing a coveted place at the next stage in the competition.

Speaking of the new series, Simon Cowell says: "Three words I never thought I'd say.... Welcome back Sharon!"

Speaking of her return Sharon Osbourne says: “I couldn’t be happier about coming back for the 10th anniversary of X Factor. I can’t wait to give Gary Barlow a big hug, sit next to the gorgeous Nicole, and of course throw water on dear Louis. Yay!”

With 20 years in the music industry, Gary Barlow is one of Britain’s most successful and respected singer songwriters. Commenting on the forthcoming series, he says: “It's great to be back for the 10-year anniversary of X Factor and my third year with the show. This year is looking to be our best yet! To have a winner like James Arthur last year was a big game changer; I really hope that his authenticity and credibility will attract acts of a similar talent this series and I'm very excited about that.”

After winning viewers over with her enthusiasm, energy and her triumphant victory with James Arthur last year, global pop superstar Nicole Scherzinger is hoping to make it a double victory this year. Speaking about the new series she says: “I had so much fun and such a great experience on the show last year – it far exceeded all my expectations! I always give 110% to all I do and I put everything else on hold to focus on X Factor and supporting my Scherzy boys. This year, now that I’ve worked out doing my new music and the show together, I am so excited to get back to the UK, my second home, and get stuck into X Factor 2013!”

Renowned music manager Louis Walsh cements his role on the panel with a record 10th series. Talking of his longevity, Louis says: “I'm back with a vengeance! Ten years on and I'm just as thrilled to be involved in the best show on TV and even more delighted to be re-united with original judge Sharon Osbourne. Let the fun and games commence!”

Much loved host, Dermot O’Leary says: “We’ve got a great line-up this year, and Mrs O is always a riot and a brilliant mentor, it should be fun.”

Open auditions for the series have already seen thousands of hopefuls turn out across the country with the hope of making their dream come true of becoming the next big singing sensation. The judges’ auditions will start on 4th June in Glasgow before visiting Birmingham, Manchester, London and Cardiff. This will be followed by the second stage of judges’ arena auditions in July.

I have a feeling this is going to be one of the best panels the show has ever had. Sharon's gold, Nicole was brilliant and crazy last year, Louis is just Louis (and has good rapport with Sharon, and feuds with Gary) and Gary will prop them up I suspect.

Really excited now :amazed:

so pleased Sharon is back, will be interesting to see the dynamic between all 4, usually Louis is the whipping boy, that might change for Lou Lou with Sharon back.

Might give this a watch with Sharon back, not so much because I love her, but because at least she was always unpredictable. I doubt she'll feud with Nicole because I'm pretty sure I remember Nicole being Sharon's helper at an auditions round one year so they presumably get on after working together for that. This might be a good year, the auditions room was one of the best things about the X Factor.

I'd like it to be

Sharon - Boys
Louis - Girls

They cant give Louis the girls. What if one of them is actually good?

Jack_
22-05-2013, 03:13 PM
I'd like these to be the categories:

Gary - Groups (I mean ffs this is obvious)
Nicole - Girls
Sharon - Overs
Louis - Boys

Or alternatively give Sharon the Groups seeing as she never had them, Gary the Girls cause he hasn't had them either, Louis the Boys still and Nicole the Overs.

But you just know this is what it'll be:

Gary - Groups
Nicole - Girls
Sharon - Boys
Louis - Overs

Queen Sharon :amazed:

And with Gary's track record the past 2 years, they'd probably be better off giving Louis a decent catagory. Sharon for the groups tbh so we can have two in the bottom 2 in Week 1 and she throws water over Gary's smug chops. :worship:

Only just come across this, I'm very out the loop with XF news!

Don't care about Gary or Nicole, as they bring nothing to the show.

But it's nice to know Sharon is confirmed. I guess since Cowell can't be a judge for this series they've brought Sharon in instead to try and pump up the ratings. Good move really!

Why not bring back Danni instead of Sharon? Cant see the show being any better tbh.

Jack_
04-06-2013, 10:42 AM
Because Sharon makes (and did make) much better TV, and this is an entertainment show, as I always try to stress to people...

People watching X Factor looking for musical integrity are only going to be disappointed. If those people watched it for entertainment they'd enjoy it a lot more.

People watching X Factor looking for musical integrity are only going to be disappointed. If those people watched it for entertainment they'd enjoy it a lot more. Its debatable that Sharon makes better TV. IT all depends on what you regard as good TV. For me, Sharon is brash an boorish. Not good TV in my book.

I think we all agree there is little, if any, true musical talent on X-Factor and any judge like Barlow who tries to push the talent aspect of the show is accused of being boring. I feel sorry for the contestants TBH.

Don't like the seating order, Gary and Nicole need to swap...I never understood why they switched at last years live shows.

The new auditon room set looks nice though, more updated than when they did them before.

Ninastar
05-06-2013, 11:05 PM
have they gotten rid of the audience?

Joe.
05-06-2013, 11:07 PM
:O auditions in rooms again?

Jack_
05-06-2013, 11:08 PM
Yeah, they're doing the auditions rooms at first and then if an act gets through that they'll perform in an arena

Still unsure whether that means the arena auditions will just be Bootcamp (as that's usually in an arena with an audience anyway), or whether the arena auditions will be an extra stage before Bootcamp. We'll see.

I thought this was common knowledge now anyway :suspect: it says it in the article in the OP

Joe.
05-06-2013, 11:09 PM
hmm cos auditions tickets are usually out by now so maybe they're going back to the room? I would prefer it actually!

Jack_
05-06-2013, 11:10 PM
I have to say though, it's so weird seeing them sat at that desk in a room :o it seems so low key now when we've had years of that picture having an arena filled audience behind them

A good change of course, just weird to see again! Especially with this panel :p

Ninastar
05-06-2013, 11:11 PM

The people in the audience are almost always idiots.

Still don't think ill watch though

Applause Store have tickets available for the arena auditions...well, they will do soon I think

http://www.applausestore.com/applausestore-reserve-form.php?id=365&bid=4

They start in July. But as I said, it's not known whether it'll be an extra stage or just simply Bootcamp.

Jack_
05-06-2013, 11:13 PM
Also Gary tweeted after yesterday's filming finished saying his cheeks hurt from laughing with a thanks to Sharon :D

The closed rooms always made the auditions funnier, and with Sharon back it'll be even more hilarious
