neither, magazines aren't really worth it with the internet and I was scarred for life from reading as a past time during college..

just read stuff on the internet

Much prefer the depth and imagination of books.

Books, I occasionally pick up a magazine but feel a bit ripped off paying ~£4 for something I'll read in a couple of hours and never look at again, can get a book for not much more than that (or even less depending where you go)

I like reading both, I'm sorting through all my stuff at the moment and the amount of magazines I have is insane.

Generally though I only buy Heat every week and whenever someone I'm obsessed with is in a magazine, but I'm always reading books and it's one of my favourite things to do.
