Actually Colombia hasn't called up Montero for the national side in forever. Travesty, amazing player.

In the 2026 WC Bid campaign (Which is probably going to be held in North America I bet), Canada has expressed interest in a bid. They're hosting the Women's WC next year and have hosted Youth WCs in the past. (This will probably be their only hope for getting a WC Berth in upcoming cycles. )

Shakhtar Donetsk striker Maicon Pereira de Oliveira died in a car crash in the Ukrainian city on Saturday, the club have announced.

In a statement on their website, Shakhtar said that the Brazilian, 25, was a "wonderful person".

"He was a talented footballer, open and friendly guy," the club added. "It is a terrible bereavement for each of us."

Maicon was on loan to Ukrainian league club Illichivets Mariupol until the end of the season.

He joined Shakhtar Donetsk on a free transfer in 2012 from fellow Ukrainian side Volyn Lutsk and made six appearances, scoring one goal.

The club have released no further details about the crash.

To accommodate the expansion from a 16 team finals tournament to 24 teams, the format will be changed from that used in 2012 with the addition of two extra groups in the group stage, and an extra round in the knockout stages. The six groups (A to F) would still contain four teams each, with the top two from each group still going through to the knockout stage. In the new format however, the four best third-ranked sides would also progress, leaving 16 teams going into the new round of 16 knockout stage, ahead of the usual quarter-finals, semi-finals and final, and only 8 teams going out at the group stage.

Oh. Hmm. Could be fun I guess. More matches, so can't complain really.

BBfanUSA
24-02-2014, 02:14 AM
I myself don't really like the idea of having 24 sides but as long as they don't knock it sky high to 32 I won't bitch, qualifying should be interesting.

ESPN have the rights over here, which means more Ian Darke. Hopefully Fox don't try to grab the rights to that as well after it. (They have UEFA Champs League)

I think they'll show England's qualifying group over here. They've been showing England Friendlies and WCQ here recently.

Arsenal fans answer me this please did RVP stink up the place with you guys during this time of the year like has had with us

Don't want to go into his disgraceful vanishing act this time last year but recovering from injury or not his play has been dam right awful and has missed AT LEAST 10 sitters since returning the latest being last night.

I called him out last year after Madrid yet he still gets no criticism from the media etc which just boggles my mind

Guy is not fit to lace RVN'S boots and we need to get rid ASAP

Drew.
26-02-2014, 12:50 PM
RVP has always had a **** attitude. When we had bad games he used to lash out at opponents and even national team mates like Krul. He used to argue with our own players too, Walcott put in his book how RVP wanted to fight him. Relieved hes not our problem anymore.

I said at the start of the season his downfall would begin this season, you've already seen the best of him.

Legend killer
26-02-2014, 12:59 PM
His attitude is rotten but i'm talking more about his finishing

Both last year and now this year his finishing come the crunch end of the season is no existent is he a bottler or not???

Drew.
26-02-2014, 01:05 PM
His finishing was usually always good, it's different though. He had wide players supplying him with good crosses he usually always finished which he's not getting now, Walcott got a ton of assists from RVP. He wasnt great in most of the big games and I can remember him missing massive chances in big moments. His downfall was inevitable though, he won't ever get his form back that he had during his last season with us. £26m was a great bit of business by Wenger. Saying that, RVP would still be more good to us than Giroud.

Brother Leon
26-02-2014, 01:28 PM
Top scorer while being injured half the season and having pretty much one chance a match.

Can't score in a brothel...
--

The problem isn't RVP being past it this season. It's the 1960s tactics and play style that has took over. Not even Messi is doing **** with the way the players are set out.

As for Bottling it...Massive Goals at Stamford Bridge,Emirates,Etihad,White Hart Lane and Anfield...5* bottle job last season.

So what's the excuse for this baron run same time last year which cost us the Madrid tie??????

Our play has been BEYOND PATHETIC to be expected when your playing Tony and Ashley (fegie buys) yet he has still missed at least 10 sitters since his return he needs to take his loser mentality elsewhere i'm afraid

Ryan57
26-02-2014, 10:30 PM
He should of been dropped last season during that baron run. Made no sense why Kagawa and Rooney were dropped for the Madrid game, yet RVP wasn't. All strikers go on baron runs, however. And without him we wouldn't of won the league anyway. This season doesn't count as he is totally disinterested and clearly doesn't like Moyes. Like some of the other players.

Even without Valencia and Young our play is still crap to watch. We could have Kroos, Iniesta, Ronaldo and Messi and we'd still play dire football under Dithering Dave.

There's a reason as to why so many Everton fans were pleased to see the back of him. Whilst I feel they are unappreciative a little, the problems they had with him are identical to what is happening at United.

well man utd have got a crap midfield , mata was missing (where was he) young and valencia arent good enough
cleverly is unproven still
carrick is ok at times but limited

so rooney ends up playing ummmm centre midfield / right wing etc
then you have rvp whose work rate is very poor, then hes been injured supposedly and is also missing chances

even the fullbacks are long in the tooth oh and not even the old wizard giggs can be called on to save the day any more because hes older than gandalph

Football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo went above and beyond a humble charity request when he offered to pay for a young boy’s brain surgery.

Ronaldo, a father of one, was asked to donate a jersey and his football boots for a charity auction raising money for Erik Ortiz Cruz, a 10-month old suffering from cortical dysplasia. The rare condition causes seizures up to 30 times a day.

The Real Madrid star came through with that request, but then went one step further, covering all costs of the expensive brain surgery to remove the abnormal part of the young child’s brain.

The procedure costs €60,000 (AUD$92,000) and tests are around €6,000 (AUD$9,000) each.

It’s not the first time the Ballon d’Or winner has shown exceptional generosity.

Two years ago Ronaldo assisted in paying for treatment of a young cancer patient in Spain.

Still not overly convinced with Rashford. Can't doubt some of his finishes have been decent, but a majority of his goals have come from deflections or lucky bounces falling his way when hes in space.. one of the only solo goals he's produced was against City. Apart from his goal y-day he was appalling, i think he must have lost the ball nearly every time he had it and he wasted some decent chances

Thought everyone in Hull had been too busy watching rugby yesterday to noticeEleven thousand at the KC stadium yesterday, to watch the mighty Hull FC return to the top of the Super league. Plus Hull Kingston Rovers (Scum), took a decent following to the South of France to see them get whipped by the Catalan Dragons.

So that's a huge reason why the Hull City end was half empty, and a lot of Hull people also paid out a lot last weekend to go down to Newcastle for the Magic weekend.

Poor organising of fixtures at the end of the day.

I decided to not just pick brand names, and I've decided to pick on form.

GK - Hart
RB - Walker
CB - Cahill
CB - Smalling
LB - Rose
RM - P. Jones
CM - Drinkwater
CM - Alli
LM - Albrighton
ST - Vardy
ST - Rashford

The two strikers looked lively against Iceland for the short time that they was on.

And the midfield needed an overhaul from the likes of Wilshere and Henderson.
