View Full Version : Tulisa victim to an elaborate & cruel hoax

Tulisa Contostavlos was reeling last night from a new blow after a multi-million pound deal to become a Bollywood superstar turned out to be an elaborate hoax, the Sunday People has revealed.

http://i1.mirror.co.uk/incoming/article1940988.ece/ALTERNATES/s615/Bollywood-Tulisa-1940988.jpg

Tricksters posing as film *executives had promised her *£8million and global fame playing a sari-clad British girl who moves from London to India.

The former X Factor judge was flown around the world by private jet during two months of *negotiations and was preparing to announce the “deal” with a great fanfare last week.

But Tulisa, 24, has been left *devastated after finding out it was a sophisticated con.

As the star locked herself away in her £6million mansion in Hertfordshire, a source close to her said: “She has taken it badly and is pretty low.”

The sultry-looking singer, whose dad is a Greek-Cypriot, had told friends the movie role was her dream job and she was “ecstatic and *excited” about it.

During weeks of talks, she was flown to Los Angeles and Las Vegas and introduced to her so-called co-stars in the
penthouse of a five-star hotel.

They spent weeks talking to her about Bollywood big names who would be potential co-stars.

After Tulisa returned to London, the so-called movie bosses flew to the capital where they hired several executive rooms at the Grosvenor House Hotel on Park Lane.

Several phone-calls also took place to discuss the role in detail.

The news that the plan was a sham came last weekend just before Tulisa was arrested over allegedly plotting to supply the illegal Class A drug cocaine.

Since finding out about the hoax, she has lost trust in most of her close friends and has changed her phone number.

A friend said: “Tulisa says that they have played with her life. She’s shocked, destroyed and devastated. It still hasn’t sunk in. She feels like she’s been completely set up and that what has happened has messed with her life. She now feels like she can’t trust anyone at all even some of her closest friends.

“She was so excited about *making the big announcement. She even had the contract ready to sign.

“When she found out that there had never been a job all along last Saturday, she was devastated.

“She couldn’t believe it. She has been so sad all week and is stressed and depressed by it all.”

She was approached for the lead role in the movie and spent several hours discussing the plot.

She was told she would film in several locations, including India, America and Africa.

Tulisa had lined up her best friend and personal assistant Gareth Varey to accompany her around the globe.

The supposed offer coincided with an announcement that she would not be returning to ITV’s
X Factor for a third series.

But according to sources close to her, she wasn’t upset at not re-joining because she thought she had a far
better offer.

One said: “Tulisa wasn’t bothered at all about whether Simon Cowell *wanted her back on the show because she was so, so excited about the Bollywood role. As much as she loved The X Factor, she saw this opportunity that would make her a global star.

“She told people that she wasn’t bothered about going back to the show because she had something better up her sleeve.

“Now she feels utterly foolish. She just keeps thinking about what would have happened if she had been offered The X Factor as she knows she would have probably turned it down. She just can’t quite
believe what has happened.”

Last Tuesday police arrested and quizzed Tulisa at a central London police station along with her pal Mike GLC who was also quizzed on suspicion of supplying Class A drugs. Both were freed on bail.

Speaking afterwards, Mike, 35, said: “Anyone can edit or chop things together on video. The truth will come out in the end.

“I don’t want to go into much more detail. I am going home to be with my family. This is ruining my life. I am not a dealer. I have never sold drugs in my life.”

Mike – real name Michael Cooms – added that Tulisa “has not done anything” and she would bounce back.

He said: “I can’t think why there should not be a reason for her to not come back.”

X Factor boss Simon Cowell, 53, has sent Tulisa a supportive message through her agent Jonathan Shalit.

Cowell axed her from his show last month but has always told X Factor colleagues he is “immensely fond” of her.

A source close to Simon said: “He hates to see anyone having a hard time, particularly when he knows them as well as Tulisa. He thought the most *appropriate thing would be to send a *message through Jonathan.”

Tulisa, from north London, shot to fame in 2006 with first N-Dubz single I Swear.

Yeah, I never understand these hoaxes either.

It was like when that con artists filmed Mario and Lisa's lives as a new and upcoming TV show and then it was revealed that it was a hoax, and Mario & Lisa split up. Like, what did that achieve?

Initially laughed at the idea of her being a Bollywood star... but the effort that's gone into it is just degrading and humiliating to both her and whoever orchestrated it. Really, really low thing to do.

Being sarcastic, shes still a tramp and doesn't deserve media attention for being sad when she has more than most people will ever have.

I find this attitude quite strange.

I'm no fan of Tulisa, but you're essentially saying rich people can't feel sadness or suffer because they have money and live in an expensive house.

How incredibly shallow of you.

I once watched a documentary that followed all these lottery winners. It was an hour of them complaining that it changed their life and they're miserable. I think some people, including Tulisa need to realise what they do have before they start whining about the things they don't.

Money doesn't always mean happiness, and you don't need to be a starving child in Africa to have a bad life. I thought this was common sense?
And anyway in Tulisas case she may not be able to live in that mansion anymore

The same could be said for anyone. Compared to starving children in Africa, we are rich beyond our wildest dreams. But does that mean we have a perfect life? No.

My point was money does not equate to happiness. That suggests happiness depends on material things, it doesn't.

Just because she lives in a multi million pound home does not mean she is immune to tough times. If your life is in the sh*t, no nice house your sat in is going to make it better.

Maybe..it must get annoying having people following you around all the time dying to see you screw up so they can run a story on you. And she may want a family (the council estate bit, noone really wants as such, but it doesnt mean your life is bad)

She's high profile enough to do it. Unlike council estate Tulisa, 6million pound mansion Tulisa has options. Money may not make people happy but having options does.

Not my point.

With most people "it could be worse", but it could be better too.

This has spiralled into a bit of a debate I'm really not interested in. I was just pointing out the general attitude that people with money can't have problems too. Money isn't everything.

Maybe in Tulisa's case but I don't really want to comment on it since the paper's are making out she's all distraught when for all we know she's having a house party. :joker:

But like I said happiness isn't always linked to money. Money can't change everything. If you're alone, then you're alone. You could maybe buy yourself a Thai bride but that's not ideal.

I agree with you 08marsh; it's the same attitude people have towards mental health - "what have you got to be depressed about?" You can't live your life playing down your personal problems because someone else out there has it worse off than you; being rich doesn't grant you a lifetime of happiness - you might have the means to buy yourself nicer things to cheer yourself up but buying yourself a fancy car or buying yourself a bar of chocolate when you're feeling depressed are both short term distractions that do not deal with the very real problems you have. Yes, Tulisa has a lot of money, but she's clearly also not a very sensible girl - why on earth is she renting property when she's been earning so much money? Why did she fall for The Sun's sting? Why did she believe these lies? It seems that people have it out for her in the media, I'd imagine she must have done something to piss a lot of powerful people off, but I can't imagine that would be a lot of fun. She is a front page story in a bad way, she's in trouble with the police at the moment, her media career is presumably on the verge of being over and her music career has become a laughing stock too. Sure, none of those problems are: having terminal cancer, being in a famine, not having fresh water, losing a loved one, losing all your belongings in a house fire etc etc etc... but they're also not: the birth of your first child, winning the lottery, your wedding day, winning an award, getting your first job... Famous people, of course, have a much better standard of life than most of us will ever have, but that doesn't suddenly mean they're not allowed to have feelings...

Marsh.
12-06-2013, 01:17 AM
Exactly Zee. Much more articulately explained.

Good comparison with the attitude towards mental health, depression can affect anyone and you can't just "cheer up".

I'd hate it, I'd like the money but I couldn't handle people following me around and taking my photo all the time. If I had the choice to be famous and have money or to stay how I am, I reckon I'd stay how I am. I honestly believe I wouldn't be able to handle it, I'd hate it

Not every celeb has paps camped in their garden. The smart one actually control the number of images of themselves that are distributed.

This is one of the reasons why I'm not sympathetic. Many celebs act like their lives are hell and the intrusion is unbearable. Its not. When the Beckhams were in this country Victoria used to control the number of images that were circulated every week. Thus, almost all of the pictures of her that were taken, before Becks went to Spain, were taken by the same bloke. She used to contact his agency and tell him where she was gonna be and he'd provide the weekly pictures of Posh for Heat mag. And the rest of the paps more or less left her alone. Celebs want you to feel sorry for them. Their lives are no where near as bad as they claim and the intrusion is usually down to their own actions.

I'd love being a celeb. I'd control the images so that the intrusion was minimal. I'd relish being papped in the street. I don't see what they have to complain about all the time.

'A rich person thought she had an opportunity to be richer, she was wrong and now shes depressed that she has to carry on being as rich as she ever was' is how I read the story.

If thats all she has to be sad about then she ought to grow some balls.

If a rich person was sad about something personal like the things Zee mentioned, that would be fine. At the end of it all this rich person is sad about not being richer and she needs to stop being a ****.

These celebs want more but when they don't get more they cry 'I'm depressed cuz I can only buy 10 diamonds instead of 20' and many people feel sorry for them. Its wrong.

Celebs are among the most cynical people in the world. They want sympathy from the public and know how to get it.
