Zoe Rhiannon Aspland, 30, from Yeovil, Somerset, died after driving her Ford Ka north on the southbound carriageway of the M5 at Weston-Super-Mare during the early hours of Saturday morning, Avon and Somerset Police said.
The car hit two vehicles travelling in the opposite direction before it was left stationary on the carriageway, where it was hit by two other vehicles, killing Ms Aspland.
An emergency worker who attended the scene said: “She was naked. And she was thrown out of the car by the impact.
“The police are trying to find out why she was in that state and what led her to drive the wrong way down the motorway.”
